rected the band, they have re- ceived numerous awards includ- ing 14 superior awards at state music contests and being chosen one of the top 100 band programs in the country. The bands kept up everyone's spirits at the football and basket- ball games, marched for football halftime shows and played in dis- trict and state competitions. Mr. Perkins explained the importance of a band: Hopefully the band teaches some appreciation of mu- sic, as well as the discipline it takes to play a musical instru- ment.
