EACH YEAR, IT HAS BEEN THE POLICY , . . OF THE ANNUAL STAFF . , . TO SELECT A HARD-WORKING AND
DESERVING PERSON . . . OR PERSONS . . . TO HONOR . . . THROUGH THE DEDICATION OF THE WICKIUP.
THIS YEAR, WE ARE PROUD TO ACCORD THIS HONOR . . . TO A BUSY, RESPONSIBLE, SCHOOL-SPIRITED,
INDUSTRIOUS, INTERESTED GROUP . . . ON WHICH OUR SCHOOL REVOLVES. THIS GROUP PARTICIPATES IN
. . . PROMOTING ADMIRABLE SCHOLASTIC AND MORAL STANDARDS . . . OUR SCHOOL GOVERNMENT . .
COUNTLESS EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES . . . NUMEROUS CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS . . . AND IS VITAL
TO THE VERY EXISTENCE OF AGUA FRIA, IT IS WITH THESE CONTRIBUTIONS IN MIND . . . THAT WE . . . THE

When you think of school spirit, what do you see?
This is the picture that comes to me:
Agua Fria is people-spirit and all
It's assemblies and classes and a rush in the hall.
It's panic at grade cards, it's scarlet and gray
It's clock-watching in class, and homework each clay.
Elections each year, and the rivalry's keen
All yearn for a scholarship 3 who will be queen?
School spirit means projects and clubs with their fun
And everyone working till all tasks are done.
Bonfires and pep parades, cheerleaders and yells,
The class-to-class dash at the sound of the bell.
Tense moments at games, cheering the team
Seeing the lawn's kept spotlessly clean.
Council meetings and P.,A. news
"Honor First, Win or Lose."
Formals and footballs, freshmen and fun
The days when nothing seems to be done.
Test tubes and workbooks, crayfish and teachers
Kickoffs, when short ones must stand on the bleachers
Vying' for championships, and on winning a few
That special pride for the school overwhelms you.
Deadlines and ink stains, tests and opening nights
Girls with top lockers-and other gripes.
The fatal moment when, life unfurled,
You leave Agua Fria to face the world.
DORA EGOLF

ADMINISTRATION
Few things are reserved exclusively for the
administration . . . besides work. The morning
rush at the mailbox . . . the quick minutes of
relaxation caught in the faculty lounge . . . are
the scarce moments of respite.
These busy beavers behind our school . . .
actively plan each day. They contribute so much
to our school life . . . including . . . teaching
what we must know . . . developing better
citizens . . . sponsoring intramural activities,
clubs, and classes . . . chaperoning dances . . .
lunchroom duty . . . guidance . . . conversing
with proud or irate parents at open house . . .
freely giving of their precious time to help those
in trouble or in need.
These all-important people are the true leaders
of our school . . . the men and women we look
to for inspiration. Correcting . . . criticizing . . .
listening . . . helping . . . sharing their knowl-
edge with us . . . endlessly . . . without adequate
recognition . . . especially from us, who take all
they have to offer.
Enough thanks could not possibly be given
to all members of our excellent faculty and ad-
ministration . . . the appreciation caught in our
innermost selves is too deep to be expressed
. . . or even realized . . . yet.

PRESIDENT AT WORK. Mike Espil directs Student Council meeting held every
Wfednesday.
Student Council is the most important
organization at Agua Fria. The members
plan the school's activities, direct Stu-
dent Council sponsored dances and par-
ties, and monitor the lunch room during
both lunches.
Student Council meetings are held
every Wednesday. At this time, planned
activities are discussed and voted upon.
Many advantages are accrued the
students through Student Council. Each
class has representatives they elect to
sit on the council.
The Student Council's major projects
this year were the planning and sponsor-
ing of Homecoming and heading the
carnival to finance our foreign exchange
student.

CLASSES
Our Student Body consists of four individual
classes . . . with considerable rivalry existing . . .
between them . . . even so . . . these classes
are mended together in one group . . . by
many invisible and intangible ties . . . the
greatest being . . . that they are all fellow-stu-
dents at Agua Fria. Other ties are less notice-
able . . . but invaluable nonetheless. These
consist of experiences shared . . . and remem-
bered . . . by everyone . . . the first day of
school . . . and the last . . . noon rushes in the
lunchroom . . . crowded dances . . . that first
formal . . . cheering at all sport functions . . .
the class assemblies . . . working hard to build
an award-winning Homecoming float . . .
various sales campaigns to raise badly-needed
funds . . . yelling your Class cheer at all assem-
blies . . . the threat of not having activity
period on Friday . . . the thrill of running for
a class or Student Body officer . . . telling
yourself you will, no matter what happens, clean
your locker out sometime this week . . . griping
at homework or girls with top lockers . . . trying
to get to class before the fatal bell rings . . .
satisfaction at participating in various school
activities . . . cramming for semesters . . . Senior
Prom . . . Senior Slave Sale . . . are shared by
members of each class.

CURRICULUM
At night, Agua Fria seems desolate . . . de-
prived of her lifeblood . . . waiting for the
magical moment of 8:45 to arrive . . . when
once again she pulsates strongly . . . springing
back to life . . . for her student body . . . whom
she tends and watches over for six short hours
. . . has returned.
For five minutes . . . between seventy-minute
classes . . . swarms of teenagers flood the halls
. . . clearing passageway to their lockers . . .
fumbling with the lock . . , stuffing in and
grabbing more books . . . hacking their route
back to their next class . . . miraculously arriv-
ing on time. There they studiously concentrate on
various accomplishments . . . whether it be . . .
keeping in step with the rest of the band . . .
striving for a higher goal in typing . . . building
healthier bodies . . . ,tackling equations or
logarithms . . . examining our governmental
system . . . or the whys and hows of nature . . .
finding answers to the puzzles of our universe
. . . learning to build better homes and families
. . . improving their understanding of our lan-
guage . . . or those of another country . . .
broadening their scope of knowledge on all
horizons.
Closed within those rooms . . . and others
just like them in high schools throughout the
United States . . . the future of our country
. . . is struggling along the path to become . . .
the greatest generation the world has ever known.

DRAMA CLUB STAGES MUSICAL
The Spanish Club's main purpose is to
learn more about the language than they
usually learn in class.
The Key Club is an international or-
ganization which was formed at Agua
Fria about six years ago. This group of
boys is willing to devote lots of time and
energy to further worthwhile activities in
the community and around school.
The Drama Club was the group be-
hind the production of the play, "The
Curious Savage," and this spring, along
with the Concert Choir, they are going to
produce Agua Fria's first musical comedy.

OWL FOOTBALL TEAM AT WORK FOR OUR SCHOOL
The Owls set another school record
when they won their first seven games,
before losing to Peoria in a hard fought
defensive game. The Owl's opponents
will have more respect in the years to
come because of this year's fine showing.
98
Under Agua Fria's fine coaching
staff of head coach Glen Hamby and
assistant Al Schireman, the Owls rolled
to their most successful season in the
school's history. Coach Doyle Green
must also be commended for his fine
scouting reports which contributed to
the teams success. Last but not least,
the team must be congratulated for
it's fine play.
The j.V. and Freshman
teams also had outstanding
seasons. Both squads proved to
the other teams that they are
teams to be taken seriously.
Both teams showed good
sportsmanship throughout the
season.

ROW 2: R. Tillman, B. Lueck, R. Miller, J. Truman, F. Lueck, D. Erickson.
After a slow start this year, the Owls began to roll
later in the season. The early season losses were all by
very small margins and part of the reason being in-
experience. Although many of the players were playing
their first year on varsity, they came through and pro-
vided the Owls with a very fine team and a lot of
team spirit. O. K. Fulton should be commended on his
fine job of coaching.
MANAGERS: Eddie Gonzales and Frank Cerasuolo
OWLS' TEAM WORKS TOWARD A BETTER SEASON
Ralph and Bill lead Owls to opening win.
Under the fine coaching of Mr. O.
K. Fulton, the Owls started a season
with many new things to learn. Their
height and rebounding are two factors
which lead the Owls to a victorious
season.
The student body is the chief sup-
porter of our fine basketball team.
They add moral support and encourage
the team to do well.
Through competitive sports, students
learn the value of the motto -
Honor First
lVifz or Lore
Frank, Bill, and Ralph await rebound in first game. The
Owls won by a narrow 42-43 margin.
X
J.V. AND FRESHMEN WORK TO GAIN EXPERIENCE
J.V. Coach Tom Hyde, Frosh Coach Dixon Fauc-
CHC.
The J.V. started a season off with four straight victories. They
had fine rebounding ability and good shooters. Coach Hyde has
really done a great deal to prepare these boys for the varsity
team.
The freshman team is one of the finest that this school has
ever had. Under the direction of their new coach, Dixon Fauc-
ette, they proved to be the toughest team in the conference.
They were a very well-balanced team and were consistent
throughout the season. These players should contribute greatly
to the success of the varsity in future years.

The track team lost four lettermen but have
showed outstanding ability in many running
and field events. The pole vaulting event
was slow getting under way because of inex-
perienced vaulters. Coach Hamby predicted at
least ten boys would go to state this year. Rick
Lammers, Fred Lueck, and Richard Mathias
showed some of the fine skills of track.
TEAM MEMBERS SHOW ENTHUSIASM AT MEETS

participation by team members. With an average of
two meets a week there is not much time for practice.
