PAUL B ELL
ln recent years, two men have
been outstanding in their lead-
ership of boys at Agua Fria. Their
inspired guidance, thoughtful
help, and enthusiastic encourage-
ment have led many boys to
bring honor and recognition to
our school and its student body.
These two men are Nlr. Paul Bell
and Mr. Orin K. Fulton.
Mr. Bell's influence extends
over many, and each of those
who have experienced his influ-
ence have benefited by it.
Though an agriculture teacher by
profession, Mr. Bell's interests in
helping boys learn to cultivate
the resources of America's farm-
land don't end there. He also
sponsors the Agua Fria chapter
of the Future Farmers of Amer-
ica, and from under his guidance
have emerged such state officers
as Ivan Hunt, state president,
who graduated in 1962, and Len-
ny Rhodes, state reporter, who is
a senior this year. ln state FFA
team competitions, his boys have
won recognition, too.
. . . TO HONOR THOSE WHO
Mr. Bell is shown here work-
ing with some of his students out
behind the agriculture shop. His
"domain" includes animal pens,
the enormous "ag" building be-
hind the arts and crafts building,
and the area where the FFA boys
grow their crops.
Mr. Orin K. Fulton is a biology
teacher at Agua Fria and an ex-
cellent one, but it is not lust for
This that we commend him.
His skilled and zealous coach-
ing of Agua Fria's basketball
team has brought recognition to
our school in general, but his
efforts last year brought honor
specifically to us through our bas-
ketball team when they won the
State Class A Basketball Cham-
pionship.
His success with last
team, and boys in general, is due
to the fact that he strives to un-
derstand each person with whom
he comes in contact. He seems
able to strike up immediate rap-
port with almost anyone.
Because of these facts and
many more, we have chosen
these men, respected and ad-
mired by all who know them, to
be the ones to whom we ded-
icate the 1963 Wickiup.

Mr. Fulton is shown here dem-
onstrating these qualities which
make him so admired and well-
liked around our school. His boy-
ish spirit is, perhaps, the quality
which leads to the easy camara-
derie which develops between
his students and himself.

ABLE LEADER PERFORM ADMIRABLY
LESTER KELLEY
Our principal, Wilbur Sullivan, keeps the superin-
tendent advised relative to the condition and needs
ofthe school. He administers and supervises the school
in such a way as to improve instruction. Another of
his duties is to help students and teachers achieve
discipline in the school. The principal is directly re-
sponsible to the superintendent.
Mr. Sullivan takes his job seriously, making daily
rounds of the classrooms and visiting with the teach-
ers to discover and help solve their problems.
If difficulties should ever arise between student
and teacher, our principal can be depended on to
resolve them.
Lester Kelley, as superintendent, is executive agent
of the board of education and has general supervision
of all activities under control of the board. He puts
into effect policies of the board and when an emer-
gency arises which is not suitably covered by any
board policy, he may exercise the full authority of
the board, reporting his actions at the next regular
meeting.
Mr. Kelley performs all of his many duties admir-
ably, but possibly the most outstanding characteristic
of this dedicated administrator is his ability to think
of each and every student personally, not iust as so
many digits in a large number. For this "personal ser-
vice" and a iob well done, we commend Mr. Lester
Kelley.

Those who, in es-

work constantly to
make your school days

MATH AND SCIENCES INVOLVED IN EVERYTHING
Our Math department includes algebra, geometry, and trip. Although only one
class is required for graduation, the maiority continue on-through bumps
and grinds and the satisfaction when you've done a good iob and completely
mastered the principles which are sometimes agonizingly simple.

The Biology factor of our science
department has two new rooms
which it may iustly be proud of.
They provide the additional room
and facilities necessary for our
growing Agua Fria.
Auto mechanics teaches boys and
girls alike the workings of our most
commonly used method of trans-
portation. lt's one of the few sub-
iects that can provide the instruc-
tion needed for a iob immediately
upon graduation.
VOCATIONAL SHOPS FUN AND WORK
Agriculture is very
popular amongst the
boys, and covers
what every good
farmer should know:
soil science, agron-
omy, entomology, an-
imal husbandry, dairy
science, poultry, ag.
engineering, a n d
shop and horticulture.

Home Ec. is an infinitely interesting subiect around which a lot of girls wisely plan to center their lives. It teaches the arts of
sewing, cooking, keeping an orderly and attractive house, bringing up children, and getting along with your husband.
BETTER HOMES AND HEALTHFUL BODIES
P.E. is a strictly fun class,
even though required.
lt teaches a smattering
of almost every well-
known sport, and stays
on them long enough for
you to get acquainted
with them. lt helps keep
you healthy and alert,
which is something your
parents have been trying
to get you to be for the
last few years.

First year Art students learn, as Mrs.
Rayner says, "How to draw." The cover
perspection, lettering, figure drawing, and
painting. Second year students have an
extended program of the above mentioned,
and experiment with Sculpture and three-
dimcnsional subiects, and cover about
two terms of commercial art. The big
moment of the year comes during the
National Scholastic Art Competition.

Typing and shorthand, important components
of the framework of business organization,
are offered in two year doses. First year short-
hand students concentrate on Gregg theory
and speed-building, while second year stu-
