SNEAK-A-PEEK from the freshmen, except that the sophomores here whispers of We have them fooled! The sophomores step up intelligence — gathering in order to determine the TRUE freshman mascot, for history ' s sake!! Intensive investigations — ransacking of rooms and harrassing of key freshman leaders — follow. A continuous forty-eight hour stake-out of a nearby fabric store by Louella Funk reveals that indeed the freshman mascot is neither the Sugar Daddies nor the Gold Diggers. Twelve yards of yellow bandanna material and 160 cowboy hats have been ordered. From this and other information, the sophomores discover the SUNDANCE KIDS!!! Telephones ring off their hooks as the sophomores spread the word and sail away to the tune of Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, announcing their discovery to the campus community over stereo speakers in dorm windows. The sophomores had accomplished their task, and now they set out to welcome the SUNDANCE KIDS into the Agnes Scott family. Ah-whoo will NOT get me a job in the real world.

Tale Of Two Kitties A Short, Short Story Complete In These Two Pages Three weeks before Black Cat and there are no leads on the freshman mascot. Each idea seems to end in a concrete wall. Are they bananas or are they . . .? Who knows, — and besides those fruit costumes are too hard to conjure up. It ' s a Thursday night and three unsuspicious sophomores saunter into dining hall, and they feel that a clue to the mystery is unravelling — the freshmen are not at dinner! The sophomores eat quickly and run off to search the campus. Finding nothing, they dejectedly return to their rooms. The freshman class has the sophomore class misguided with the almost foolproof freshman hall representative system — but the security gap occurs in the telephone communications system! Suddenly, walking down the hall, one sophomore glimpses a message tacked to a door — not a BCNMWCBL, but an innocent note: Call me, it ' s important, Fanny Freshman, 373-2571. For an unknown reason she steals the note and makes the call. The result: a vote count and the time and place of a secret meeting. That is not much to go on, but it is enough to inform the Sophomore Black Cat Chairman! Throughout the evening, dozens of calls to unsuspecting freshman hall leaders are made by amateur actresses suddenly turned professional. Fanny, can you talk? There aren ' t any sophomores around who can hear this conversation, are there? I won ' t be able to make it to the meeting. Can you take my vote count for me? 1-5, 2-1. Great! Thanks so much! After many such calls, the initials for the top two choices for the freshman class mascot are discovered: S.D. and G.D. From this the sophomores think the mascot is either sugar Daddies or Gold Diggers. The weekend passes, and the sophomores ' subtle hints and questions — do you want to dig for gold? — combined with massive bombardments of freshmen with Sugar Daddies — evoke no response continued on p 18 17
