Everyone rushed up town this noon to register their guess on the Basket Ball game with Lenox here Friday evening..The Brown Clothing Company are giving away a 310.00 sweater to the one who guesses the nearest to the 80033. Gee! I'd like to have that sieater. The sixth grade are tal-:ing a lively interest in a reading circle carried on under the auspices of the State organization, which was organized last September, for the purpose of bringing better books into the hands of Iowais boys and girls. and Miss Charlotte spencer won a dollar for being the first Afton pupil, to read four out of the required number of books, awarded by Supt. McDowell. JAN. 25, Tuesday. Seventeen pmpils are now sitting in the Honor Ro:vYThe s question in the pupils mind who sit there is, Will I getto stay' CGlad I donft have to worryl. Would be kinda' nice though. Last semester one hundred and fifteen pupils had perfect records for punctuality and attendance. JAN. 26, Wednesday. The old mimeographing room is being converted into a rest- rcom. I hope I get sick soon, would like to try out the equip- ment. The Junior High Pupils have taken up two new coursesprhich include Domestic Science and Manual Training. JAN. 27, Thursday. Some students, unlike Solomon, seem to think that sleep is the only way to escape school. It is rumored that a few boys were sleeping in the assembly this P. M. JAN. 28, Friday. The Basket Ball game tonight with Lenox was a roaring suc- cess. The pep was exceptionally good, andthe game was won in the last three minutes by shepherd scoring a field goal. Only three more sir-week periods of schoo1.'I!nere has been some new courses offered this semester, including Banking Journalism and Basketry. JAN. 18, Tuesday. The T. N. T. Club met at the High schoolbuilding for their regular meeting. They discussed many interesting things and Mrs de Paar also talked to them a. while. JA-No 19, lednesdw. Normal Training examinations began today under the super- vision of Miss Mae Briggs. Nineteen pupils took them. JAN. 20, Thursday. Another day of hard. work on exams. Everyone seems to be, busy. Some arithmetic tests were made and applied to the gradepup- ils from the third to the eighth inclusive. Juniors and Seniors benefit by the practice teaching involved in giving these tests. if the pupils don't. JAN. 21, Friday.
