Cf O 0 ' D CY U ll 9' E B Q I - I 1 1 I I 1 1 1 - v l Q. - ' St' V' CLASS HISTORY The Freshman Class of l943-44 enrolled with a total number of 49 students The great surprise of the year was that our first party lasted longer than the thirty minute one we had the prevlous year However, as Freshman we were quite successful with our 'stunt' f imitating the school faculty and we won first prize in the stunt night contest When the roll call for the sophmorea of 1945 was called, the number of students had greatly diminished However, we still sufficient talent to present a very successful one act play entitled Comin' Round The Mountain ' The usual three parties were also en joved by each member As Juniors we held our limit of three parties The Junior Play 'Hobgoblin Housen, was very successful, due to the efficient managemaw of our sponsor, Miss Roseborough and the talented acting of the east Those who were a member of the cast were R A Williams, Mary lat lock, Dorethea Miller, John Butcher Bob Butcher, Don Kinkead, Bever ly Phoenix, Lillian Johnson, Patricia Roberts, Harmon Hardy, Jim Coun trymsn, and Marjorie Hood The Junior Senior Banquet was a veritable success. The Candle 'kk 'll light Theme was used and was quite impressive We remember the excel lent food, the pretty girls, and the interesting speeches On Septemb r 8, 1946 27 pupils had gained the right to call ing the vacation we were happy to welcome Bertie Powell and Ervin Ash from neighboring schools, and four returning veterans, Stacey Bivins Lee Palmer, Jack Wallace and C L Nally A fel weeks after the students were settled down to the familiar routine of school, the 'K Senlors sponsored a 'Tacky Dey A Senior, Harmon Hardy, was crowned 'King of Tacky Day' A Senior girl Mary Matlock, was crowned Foot ball Queen at an impressive ceremony upon the football field, A bou quet of yellow chrysanthemums was presented her by the football squad Later in the year, Mary Dean Nelly joined us We had our three par ties, our Senior Dey, our one ect play and our three act play The long hoped for occa 1on Graduatlon loom ln the near future, but we XX Know that we'll neve forget our hlgh School life! llllllllfiifi'.fflffllllllllJ PROPHECY WHO S WFO AND WHY Although lt has never been publicly announced it is generally known that we possess the remarkable power of projecting ourselxes forward through the years into any given tlme in which we are inter ested To night, being restless and weary with the cares of the day, we longed for a change of scene and time So, closing our eyes and relaxing we wished ourselves into thc public library of this town ten years from now We found ourselves in the reference room of a magnlficent new building As we glanced at the shelves our eyes were attracted by a thin red leather volume Taking it down we saw the title was 'Who's Who and Why in Afton' Eagerly we turned the pages and read the preface When we saw how interesting it was we fled back into the Now bringing the book with As we must hurry into the future again, in an hour, before the book is missed we shall let you read it We are certain you will be interested It is dedicated to the Senior Class of 19h7 a distinguished and intellectual group MARJORIE HOOD le an opera singer in a Burlesque Show She has achieved her highest ambition DORETHIA MILLER and MARY MATLOCKlave Joint ownership of a Pet shop They specialize in Monkeys, Elephants, and len LILLIAN JOHNSON is new a great social leader and she spends mostTf her time devoting her talents to the 'Fade out and close up Society' STACEY BIVINS has just re entered the Navy He is so am bltious that by the time he reaches Hawaii he will probably be an Ap prentice Seaman KENNY KIRK is now backfleld coach for the Notre Dame Kids Just a little something DON KINKEAD ls becoming quite famous for his Art Work He specializes in painting the 'Beauties of Nature' -Girls C L NALLY and wife DEANNE, are now devoting their time to theIr new book 'Advice to the Lovelorn' FERN OAKLEY is now manager of the most efficient laundry in Afton The name of her shop is 'The Lint Shop' Or could it be 'The Linn Shop? BERTIE POWELL MAYS is Soclety DOROTHY QUANDT is now instructor of the shorthand class of tre Mental Deficient Club of Afton JIH IE GRUNDEN and GERALD ROBLVER are now in the Civil Engineer Business They have just finished thelr first assignment, which was the construction of the Tunnel oflove in a F ek Side Show BOB BUTCH R is still the old klndheerted Bob and he is still leaning his horse to Geraldine to rlde totmwn any time she pleases ELMER JO MARKES is owner of a large ranch just out of Afton His motto of success is simply BBMB lBerkshlre Berkshire, More Berk shlrej JOHN BUTCHER is Professor of Geometry in the brain factory of AIUOH Poor Boy DON BROWN is still wondering around singing his be loved Theme Song 'Oh Take le Back to Northside' G W TIPTON and RAVMOND JONES are Professors of agriculture in the Afton High School nd also of the F F A Department of Afton It seems that they n wer get tired of the Kansas City tours HARMON HARDY ls an astrono mer assisted by a beautiful Girl Assistant His hobby ls Star Gaz ing Dates At his old tricks, we see R A WILLIAMS and ERVIH ASH are now fulfllling their wildest dreams and are in business together as Pool Hall Managers We always knew they would become famous LOUISE WOMACK BUXTON is leader of the S P C W Club C'The Society for Prevention of cruelty to wives'J JIMMIE MILLER 13 now a 81885 and famous undertaker and is in charge of the Durnil Funeral Home of Afton LEE PALMER ls now chief instructor of the track team of the Afton High School It seems the fame all started when he proved him- self the fastest man on the football team of A6 DALE HITMHRE is now modeling for 'Maybelline' Before returning this 'Who's Who and Why' to its place on the shelf of the future, may We congratulate the class of l9L7 on the success each of its members is about to achieve and on its famous future?
