SENIORS if Everyone looks forward to the time when he will finally become a 'dignifiedn Senior, but he often forgets the other duties that name im plies For example, the Seniors hold undisputed title to The Busiest Cla-s of 1946 47' Why? Let ue glance briefly at their class record The first event on their calendar was to select their very able officers They were as follows President Stacey Biving Vice President Don Klnkead Secretary Treasurer Harmon Hardy Reporter Sponsor Class Colors Class Flower Motto 'The Path to Honor Lies Open to All Jack Wallace Mrs Harold Dry Blue and White Pink carnation Soon the Senior rings were selected and ordered The Seniors will remember the day the rings finally arrived the mad trip to the post office and the final 'trying em on for size ' Their choice was a good one, as we notice several members of the other classes approve to the point of wearing them The record next shows the first social gathering of the class on October 7 ln the high school building Games were played, contests were held, and refreshments Cwhich they worked so hard to preparel were enjoyed by all The class elected Mary Matlock as their football queen candidate By selling doughnuts, chances on an angel food cake, and by contribu tions, the Seniors were not to be beaten Mary won the race' Harmon Hardy, the football captain, and a Senior, took part in crowning the Manv were exempt from semester tests, proving the Seniors worked hard, not only in sports and extra curricula act1vities,but other things es well X X X X XXXXXXXKXXX XXKXXX X s x x s x x x x x N s N x x x N s x Q s 2 s x E s I x x 5 One day the Seniors almost created a school crisis by aD.arr1vlng with nice suits and dresses on They superiorly straightened then- ties and smoothed their hair as they bravely faced the photographer fortheir class pictures lldany revealed that 'Pepaodent Sm1le l Then work on the annual began in earnest' The whip cracked and willing Seniors were seen hurrying around to aid in their new schmn project their yearbook Ervin Ash deserves much credit as an effl cient business manager, and Don Kinkead, the art editor, should be re werded for his very good work On March 7 the Senior Class presented a one act play, nPig of My Dreams ' The cast consisted of Stacey Bivins, G W Tipton, Mary Matlock, Dorothy Quandt, Dorethea Miller, and Don Brown The other member of the cast fthe pig? had stage fright and was unable to appear on opening night A three act play 'A Meddlesome Maidn, ls scheduled to be given May 1 Of course, this will be a high light in the Senior activities The Seniors have selected their announcements, and havebeen meas ured for their caps and gowns From now on they will be in a whirl of activities, and long will they remember this year of 1947 in Afton High School A L- 0 N - V , I . - .N QLIBBH.
