Mr. Bekemeyer, the noted and most famous spon-
sor of the well-known class from Affton High
School of 1957, is just about ready to make his
Rocket ship tour. As all of you know, Mr. Beke-
meyer is going to answer the many cries of his
1957 students to come and visit them. As he ar-
rives at the Lambert Airport, the reporters are
hounding him to seek information as to what fa-
mous student he will visit first, as he makes the
trip around the world. As he boards the luxurious
D-C 107 space ship, he is greeted by a very pretty
girl, who was the Queen of the class of '57, Bar-
bara Evans who is the stewardess. She comfort-
ably seats him and reassures him that he isn't
taking off for the moon. She then goes to the cap-
tain, who is none other than Craig Steibel. The
captain then nods to Walter Staas, the airplane me-
chanic, to tell them that they are on their way. As
the rocket ship leaves the ground, Mr. Bekemeyer
looks across the aisle to see Roger Stein, who is
talking to that noted gossip columnist, Marilyn Mc-
Cauley, to seek the latest news about town. When
Mr. Bekemeyer awakens, he looks from the win-
dow of the rocket and sees that the plane is right
above the famous Indianapolis Speedway. As he
strains his eyes to see just who is winning the race,
he notices that three of the racers are jack Karg,
foe Becker, and Matthew Burkhart. Suddenly Mr.
Bekemeyer gets somewhat excited, but the steward-
ess assures him that it is nothing but a mild elec-
trical stormg at least they thought the storm was
mild, but when the storm was over, they suddenly
realized they were in the sunny land of Florida.
Deciding to take a walk along the beach, Mr. Beke-
meyer sees none other than Donna Ely still trying
to get that suntan. While in St. Augustine, he
stumbles upon Diane feollink who is madly search-
ing for the "Fountain of Youth." At Cypress
Gardens Mr. Bekemeyer sees Warren Schuch, the
famous water skier. The rocket ship departs for
New York City. When they fly by the Empire
State Building, he peeks through the window and
sees Carol Stuerman, Don Schneidefs secretary,
explaining to reporters Carol Horst and Bob Stel-
mach, why her boss is late. In the evening he at-
tends the recital of Bill Steinmetz, the famous pian-
ist, at Carnegie Hall. He then leaves for Brazil
to see Barbara Hershey. As most of us already
know, she's the one responsible for putting the
nuts into the hershey bars. While eating a candy
bar he takes a stroll to Wally Rhodes' 500 acre
rubber plantation. As the plane crosses the At-
lantic Ocean, he sees George Roer and foe Mc-
Kean trying to make a voyage around the world
the cheap way, on a raft. While the rocket is over
Africa, it runs out of fuel which means that poor
Mr. Bekemeyer has to bail out. He quickly puts
on and fastens his parachute and jumps out the
door. Oooopps, the parachute catches on a nail,
but all is not lost, for just below is Carol Hoffman
ready to catch him with her famous seller, the
Twenty-four
plastic undershirt, which she is trying to sell to
the Pygmies. Becoming very hungry, he stumbles
into the kitchen of Marilyn Cole, a typical house-
wife. She invites him in for her favorite dish,
rattlesnake pizza. Trying to find his way back
to civilization, he runs into the fearless safari
hunter John Trantina, who helps him to find his
way through the jungle, where his ship is ready
to leave again. He arrives just in time to see Con-
nie Hortig, in Spain, make her debut as a toreador
fighting a vicious bull. Mr. Bekemeyer becomes
so excited that he just catches his rocket in time
to go to France. Upon arrival in France, he decides
to have his picture painted by the famous artist
John Dyess, so that he can send the picture to his
many grandchildren. Entering a cafe, he joins
Nina Wolf and .lady Thomas who are also tour-
ing France. To his surprise the floor show is fea-
turing that famous French singer, Pat Welden, the
exciting Can-Can dancer, Sharon McDonald, and
the breath-taking adagio dance team, Evonne Leon-
ard and David fTinyj Voelke. After enjoying a
wonderful show, Mr. Bekemeyer boards the rocket
ship and departs for Italy to hear the renown
Italian opera singer, Sharon Pinion. Before arriv-
ing at the opera house, who should Mr. Bekemeyer
see but Nancy Dixon trying to paint the Leaning
Tower of Pisa straight. After explaining to her that
the tower is supposed to be slanted, we again depart
this time for England. While flying over the English
Channel, he sees Donna Pickles attempting to swim
the Channel. Waiting to greet Mr. Bekemeyer at the
London Airport, is the famous Sherlock Holmes,
Walter Breville, who warns him of Bill Dieckmann,
the ruthless bubble gum thief. While walking
through the smog, Mr. Bekemeyer suddenly hears a
loud siren and notices the London Fire Engine be-
ing driven by Fireman Russell Wippler, with his
boss the Fire Chief, Larry Winn. While passing
over Ireland, he sees Gary Shannon looking for
four-leaf clovers. When the rocket lands in Canada,
Mr. Bekemeyer is greeted by .lon Dressel, the own-
er of all timber camps for his wood-working shop
in Affton. He in turn introduces him to Betty
Brushett, the wife of a Mounted Police Captain.
Deciding to go for a stroll in the snow, Mr. Beke-
meyer stumbles upon .lack Lauclenslager hanging
draperies on an igloo. After inquiring where he
can catch his rocket ship, he discovers there is a
rocket ship at Ronald Rolfes' Steak 'n Shake at
the North Pole. After enjoying a northburger, he
catches his rocket and lands in Switzerland. He
hears about a ski meet and decides to go. Acci-
dentally, Mr. Bekemeyer finds that somehow he is
going down the ski jump. While yelling for help
he notices that Sheila Lucas passes him trying for
her record ski jump. After falling in a snow drift,
he is rescued by two girl scouts camping in the
woods, who are .ludy Rinderer and Sherry Walker.
After recovering he is invited to inspect the teach-
ing methods of the Switzerland Universities. Here
he finds .loyce Zinselmeier still fullfilling her six-
teen scholarships which she won in high school
with high honors. Still enthused with education,
Mr. Bekemeyer goes to Heidelburg University in
Germany to see his old pupil Wayne Eirich, Pro-
fessor of Chemistry. Given a free ticket to the fa-
mous circus of Germany, Mr. Bekemeyer decides
to attend. He is greeted by Shirley McGovern
and Ruth Worth, who are two circus clowns. They
take him to see all the good side shows which in-
cludes Charlie Mayer, a magician, who cuts glam-
orous Nancy Norrenberns in half. Wondering why
he is scratching so much, he turns and finds Bob
Pickett, the flea trainer. looking madly for his fleas.
Looking up, he sees Virginia Deveraux, the lady
fire eater. Suddenly he notices that it is time for
the big show to start, so Mr. Bekemeyer takes his
seat next to John Mclnerny, the owner of the circus.
The first act leaves Mr. Bekemeyer breathless as he
watches Don Murray on the flying trapeze. The
next act consists of Janet Kehr and Bill Woodrome,
the only people in the world who can roller skate
on the high wire. There's a loud roar, and when
Mr. Bekemeyer turns, he sees Rosalie Hiltibidal,
the fearless lion tamer. The last act turns out to be
a thriller as Roger Schmeider is shot out of a can-
non right into Mr. Bekemeyerls lap. While leaving
the circus, he notices foe Albrecht, a famous for-
eign correspondent who is watching the circus.
Then he decides to leave Germany to visit Carol
King, Dean of the Military Academy of Austria.
While he is in Vienna, he meets Don Bingen-
heimer, the only redheaded canal boat driver in
the world. He visits for a while and then remem-
bers that it is about time for the Olympics to start
in Greece. He barely gets there in time to see Bill
Borcherding set the record for the high jump. The
next morning he has the urge to see Algeria. the
headquarters for the French Foreign Legion. While
he is there sight-seeing he sees Ronnie Healey, Lee
Herberger, and Richard Herbergs, who are French
Legionaires. On the way back to Austria his rocket
runs into a storm and they get lost. Oh No! Poor
Mr. Bekemeyer! He is never going to see all his
students this way. The plane finally lands in Ara-
bia. Mr. Bekemeyer gets an idea. He remembers
that Carol Glass lives in Arabia now. It seems that
she started a lingerie shop in Arabia and made
quite a fortune. While he is there, he stops in at
the palace to see Melvin Glass, the present mahara-
ja. He stops in at Jerusalem to say hello to Judy
Gilpin who is still searching madly for that certain
minister. Mr. Bekemeyer has heard so much about
the Russian Ballet in Moscow that he decides to go
there. To his surprise, he sees Maureen Foley, the
prima donna of the ballet. On his way home from
the ballet he is stopped by Bob Grempler and Vir-
ginia Schenk. They are on business in Moscow
and wanted to talk to him before he left. Mr. Beke-
meyer just couldn't figure out what business they
are in until he reads the morning newspaper and
ea. Zena am
sees that they just broke up a spy ring for the FBI.
While he is busily reading an article "How To Be
Polite In Ten Easy Lessonsv by the noted writer
Gloria Schoenfeld, he doesnit notice the rocket land-
ing in India. All of a sudden he sits up with a
start, there is a snake crawling across him. Then
he notices Barbara Schroeder, the snake charmer,
who reassures him that the little snake won't hurt
him. After he gets over the scare he decides to
take a little walk. As he gets off the rocket, he
sees Rodger Kohler sleeping on a bed of nails. He
strolls around the airport and wanders off into
the jungle. All of a sudden he is in the air. An
elephant picked him up, but luckily George Hutchi-
son, the elephant boy from India, was there to
rescue him. He decides to get back on the rocket
ship before anything else happens to him. As they
approach China, he hears people talking about the
famous St. Louis Hawks making a world tour and
that they are now in China. Since they were stop-
ping there anyway, he goes to the game to see the
St. Louis Hawks play the Chinese Dragons. It is
truly an exciting game. It proves to be especially
exciting since Mr. Bekemeyer sees that cute little
cheerleader, Nedra Matter cheering the Hawks on.
As he looks again he sees Ronnie Schmitt, their star
player, making the winning point. All of a sudden
there is a loud cheer and then a loud crash, as he
sees Lalferne Hill falling out of the grandstand
still cheering for Ronnie. While the rocket is land-
ing for repairs he goes to the concession stand and
buys a Chinese book. When he opens it he is sur-
prised to see it is written by foy Kessler, the only
American to write poetry in the Chinese language.
The rocket starts up again and he is on his way to
Japan. He is greeted by General Leroy Fischer,
Commander in chief of the Marines in Japan. Be-
fore leaving Japan, he comes across David Spreng-
ferj who is still looking for summlerl. While
crossing the ocean again, he stops for some fresh
pineapple in the Hawaiian Islands. Here he is en-
tertained by that famous group of Hula dancers.
.lune Lenhardt, Dianne Schoenherr, M a r i ly n
Schneider, and Donna Klug accompanied by that
famous Wayne Kuehrfs "Rock the Hulaw Band.
After a short swim, Mr. Bekemeyer finds that
somehow he has stumbled on some strange look-
ing island. It looked quite deserted until he saw

happens to get lost in the desert. Upon arriving in
Chicago, Mr. Bekemeyer goes directly to Madison
Square Gardens to see the Championship Wrestling
Match, featuring David Wilde, heavy-weight champ.
The match is refereed by the fairest caller of all,
Neil Shanklin. Sitting at ring side is Charleen

The football program at Affton began with a
very successful season. Posting a record of four
wills and one loss on the "B" level and battling two
Varsity teams on even terms in scrimmages. the
Cougars definitely have built a strong foundation
for next year's Varsity schedule. One definite asset
resulting in a winning season was the Cougars de-
fense. Only one team reached paydirt against the
purple and gold. This, unfortunately. was the only
game in which Affton did not score and was de-
feated by Maplewood in the last 45 seconds. 6 to 0.
ln the opening game. Jim Musgrave led the offen-
sive attack and scored twice as Affton crushed
Berkeley. 13 to 0. Two outstanding sophomores,
Buddy Diehl and Speedy Brown, each scored once
to lead Affton to its second win. 13 to O. over Fox
school. A big and experienced Oilfallon Tech was
outplayed inthe best game of the season. 6 to 0.
Buddy Diehl ran through and around the big O'Fal-
l rrrl line to lead the way to victory. Fox was de-
feated a second time. 7 to 0, as only sophomores
played led by Dennis Jordan. It was truly a great
season and with only four men not returning, the
pigskins future looks bright at Affton.

Because of an ahlmreviated season. the freshmen
squad played only two games. llue to the lack of
time they unfortunately were handicapped and con-
sequently missed out on many of the fundamental
points of the game. Thirty-two lmoys were on the
team. They showed much enthusiasm and willing-
ness to learn. Their improvement over the season
was steady and next year will find a fine nucleus
for the "B" team.
Outstanding boys on the squad were Carl Zerna.
who showed speed and much football ability. Bruce
Koopman and Cordon Suess were good offensixe
men. Uon Leupold proved to lie very aggressive
on defense.

age in life?
ANSWER: Today! For in
the eyes of those who love her
most, each age has its special
charm.
May we preserve the mem-
ory of this charm with a flat-
tering photograph of you? lt
takes such a little of your
time to give so much happi-
ness. Phone now for an ap-
