U16 ttzoph On November 2'l, 1946, Mr. Win Schuler of Marshall donated a trophy to be given to the school in the Twin Valley League that had the best all around record in sports. Years later it was decided to include all conference approved athletics in which three-fourths of the members participated. Last year Adrian managed to edge out East Lansing by 62 to 60 points, when East Lansing was unable to play their last baseball game because of wet weather. The game had been scheduled and rescheduled, but the season was unusually wet. Be- fore the game could be played the school year had ended. If East Lansing had played and won this game against Sturgis, they would have gained the two points needed to tie Adrian for top honors. Marshall has had the trophy four times, which 2 is the most of any of the teams in the Twin Valley League. Marshall won in 46-47, East Lansing in 47-48, Coldwater in 48-49, Marshall in 49-50, 50-5'l, 5'l-52, Lakeview in 52-53, 53-54, and Adrian in 54-55. The points are scored as follows: The four maior sports, football, basketball, baseball, and track, re- ceive T6 points for first place, 'I4 for second, i2 for third, 'lO for fourth, 8 for fifth, 6 for sixth, 4 for seventh, and 2 for eighth. The four minor sports, tennis, golf, wrestling, and swimming, are allowed 8 points for first, 7 for second, 6 for third, 5 for fourth, 4 for fifth, 3 for sixth, 2 for seventh, and T for eighth. The trophy is awarded at the fall meeting of the league.
