F RST GARNUVAI. The evening of November 17 marked a new high in student body activities at Adrian High School. On that date a student body carnival was held in the gym. Preceded by a two weeks ticket selling campaign in which every student in school took part, the success of the assured before the door was opened on November 17. In the campaign Elbert Fretwell received first prize and Bob Kurtz John Timmerman ably served as student manager of John, assisted by Mr. de Lespinasse and a cooperative student a wow of one did his As an directed by a carnival. Every student in school had a job to best. carnival was ticket selling second prize. the carnival. body planned do and every opener for the evening's frolic the public speaking class, Mrs. Watts, presented a side splitting pantomime program. Following the program the side shows and concessions opened for business. As the evening progressed the crowd grew larger. Hot dogs competed with beano for popularity. Balloons squawkedg sirens shriekedg and confetti filled the air. At 11:00 P. M. a set of dishes was awarded to Velma McDermott, holder of the lucky number in the drawing contest and the carnival was over. The student body realized S166 profit on the night fun. Mary Roberts The Student Council consists of the president of the student body, the vice-president, the secretary, a delegate from each class and an advisor. ,, The student council serves as a clearing house for student body business. Matters of general concern to the school are discussed and plans formulated in council meetings and then presented by council members to the larger student body group. Members of the Student Council are as follows: Jim Miller, Presi- dent Johnny Timmerman, Vice-presidentg Sid Snapp, Junior Class Hep- resentativeg Betty Eachus, Secretaryg Mary Roberts, Senior Cl-ass Repre- sentative: Mavis Gale, Sophomore 'Class Representativeg Lois Patton. Freshman Class Representativeg and Mr. Patch, the advisor. During the first semester the student council was not fully organized and therefore did not hold their meetings regularly, but the second sem- ester they held regular meetings at noon on the first and third Wednesdays in the month.
