During the first weeks of school, some of the students were able to partly realize this because with the help of Mr. de Lespinasse and their parents, about 56 members ordered different instruments. After the shiny instruments arrived, then came the head-splitting sque-aks and squawks, which by no means could be made pleasant without many hours of home and class practice. The entire band made their first appearance at the Christmas program in which they showed considerable progress. The pep band, made up of 25 members, made their first appearance at the New Plymouth game on February 26. They continued to appear at all the home games. This greatly increased the pep of the student body and assisted in increasing gate receipts at games. The band's first concert was held April 5. It was a great success. A considerable sum of money was made, which is to be used to buy uniforms for next year. On April 13, the band went to the Festival at Caldwell, Idaho. An enjoyable time was reported by all. The Adrian High School Band under the capable direction of Mr. de Lespinasse has made unusual progress for a first year group. The band has played at pep assemblies, and basket ball games and has been a con- tributing factor in improving school spirit and morale. With over 50 students returning to the band next year the future looks most cheerful for a high class band organization. A GAPELLA GHQ US President .......... ...... M r . de Lespinasse The A Capella Chorus was organized soon after school started in September with a large number attending. Our enrollment is now thirty- three. The Chorus sang some Christmas Carols at the afternoon Christmas program. sThis being our first appearance, it was, of course, a wonderful performance. After that 'we were heard at the following: The Senior Play, Junior Play, May Day Festival, Music Festival, Baccalaureate, Class Day and Commencement.
