Our coach, Mr. Cook, started intramural sports to develop better players and better sports- manship in the school. The Coach picked six teams from the high school and Mr. McPartland picked a team from the Grade School and began playing basketball. When the season was over the players picked what they considered was the best players i11 their opponents The results were: FIRST STRING Don Garner .....v..,......... Wolves Bill Case ...................,.. Huskies Carl Piercy .....,.......... Mustangs Livingstone Larkin .... Cougars Jewell Wilson .... Grade School SECOND STRING Dudley Kurtz ...... Grale School Bud Notheis .,.,. ....... W olves Wildcats Sam Pullen ....,.. Wayne Piercy ,..... .... M ustangs Fred Boness .,... .,.... W illcats The final results of the teams: Wolves ........................ 9 3 .750 Hotshots .... 8 4 .667 Mustangs .... 7 4 .636 Trojans 5 6 .456 Cougars ...... 2 4 .3 3 3 Huskies .... .. 3 8 .273 Wildcats .......................... 3 S .273 The track team looks good, but we can't tell just how good it ig until they get them on a good track, our track is still uncompleted. We have some lettermen that should help our track team. Our first baseball team is working out now with Mr. Patch acting coach. Although there are no lettermen we should have a good team and win our share of the games. GIRLS lIlllM'TER:M1WRlAL SPUIRTS The girls Intramural program included volleyball, basketball, soft- ball, and individual sports. Although girls physical education activities included individual as well as team sports, the latter lead the Intramural program. The Juniors seem to have the edge on the other three classes, as they took the championship in volleyball and basketball. Individual sports were tennis, archery, badminton, and aerial darts. These sports with softball were played during the spring season. Girls taking part in Intramural games were not on a selective basis. A large percentage of the girls took an active interest in the intramural program.

For a girl to become a member she must have earned at least thirty points by participating in different sports and activities. This year eight girls having the required number of points were initiated into the G. A. A, They donned their football suits and demonstrated a football game in front of the assembly, thus giving the boys a few pointers on the game. The different activities in which the girls are participating this year to earn points include horseslioes, deck tennis, archery, volley ball, basket- ball, tennis, badminton, and tumbling in addition to out-of-school activities such as hiking, horseback riding, skating, bicycle riding. The girls sponsored a dinner and dance in honor of the Halfway ball players and Halfway G. A. A. members and the Adrian Lettermen. Each G. A. A. girl has to have 50 points for a numeral, 100 points for the letter A, and 150 points for the block 0 with a. small A inside. These awards can be purchased and worn on school sweaters. The G. A. A. has helped the school all it can and has been especially interested in activities and in working for the betterment of the school. fl I IQETQ W J . . .V .qMA l 5
