JU R GLASS H STQRY The first Junior Class of Adrian consists of 38 members, 21 girls and 17 boys. ' All but 6 members, who came from nearby schools, attended Nyssa High School last year as Sophomores. Our class has assumed a role of leadership in all sports and activities. In football the majority of the boys turned out with 7 earning letters. In basketball 6 members received awards. Twelve Juniors are members in the Adrian Lettermen's Club The .lnnior boys won the interclass tourna- ment in basketball at the first of the season. The Junior Girls make up half the number in G. A. A. The class has been in Girls' atics, Arts ond Crafts, Journalism, A Capella Chorus and Class officers leading us this year include Johnny basketball letterman, president: Ileta Franklin, G. A. A. president of the classy Donna Ashcraft, a member of the secretary of the class, Grace Kygar, member ol' the Log of the class. Miss June Clark served as class advisor. League, Dram- Band. Timmerman, u President, Vice tumbling team, Staff, treasurer Adam's Evening , the Junior Class play, was very well attended and enjoyed by all on the evening of April 26th. On May 10th the Junior Class played host to the Seniors at the animal Junior-Sen or Banquet. JUNHIUR PLAY Adam's Evening , presented by the Junior Class, April 26, was a royalty play with an all-star cast headed by Adam, Sid Snapp, who sets the action for one hilarious scene after another at breakneck pace. Figur- ing highly in the battle of wits is Adam's Mother-in-law, Mrs. Bean, played by Emily Otis, who can't let well enough alone, but takes the situation in hand and sends Mr. Cokes, Leroy Parker, a funeral wreath because he is supposed to be dead, but isn't. Mrs. Cokes, played by Betty Glass, turns up at this time to collect her supposedly dead husband's in- surance. Dr. Fragoni, Oliver Freel, and his wife, Rosita, who is Dorothy Hamilton, spend two of the three acts losing and finding themselves, as does Elmer Green, played by Rex Beebe, only his endeavors are bent on suicide. Adam's trusting wife, Anna, Juanita Sipes, comes home from u short vacation to find her house in an uproar and no one seems to be able to help her straighten it out, not even the house servants, Casper and Gertle, the colored comedy team-very well done by Bob Gibson and Florence Russell. un X ll fm il ll Jr U .. H In 1938 a green, but not too green to learn, Freshman Class entered Nyssa High School. ,Glen ,Osborn was elected presidentg, Louise Hinton, vice president, and Idaleen Maw, Secretary and Treasurer. The class motto of Forward Ever, Backward Neverf' was selected. The yellow tulip and blueand gold were chosen as a class flpwerand colors, respectively. The classwadvisors were Miss lrene Honsteadand Mr. John Young. Only two meetings were held during the 1935-39. year. Near the. close of the -year a class weiner roast was held on the school grounds. . This year things have changed a great deal. A part of the green Freshman class of 1938-3x9 in Nyssa High was the first to enter the new Adrian High School as a Sophomore Class. Glen Osborn was again elected president, Louise Hinton, vice ,presidentg Marjorie Cameron, Secretary and Treasurerg and Mavis Gale, Class representative, to the Student Council. Maroon and gold were chosen as the class colors. The red and yellow tulip was selected as the class flower. For a class motto, Push, Pull or Get out of the Way lwas the, class choice., On October 27th, the class played host to the Student Body in a most hilarious party. The Sophomore class has taken an active part in all school activities. A Sadie Hawkins party was successfully sponsored by the Soiphomores on February 29. Mr. Cook, class advisor. deserves a great deal of credit for his assist- ance and guidance to the class. F ESNHMAM HMSTQRY On September 5th a group of 45 Freshmen looked through their ranks and selected the following officers, Verne Linderman, president: Billy Hamilton, vice president, Phyllis Haworth, secretary, Ardis McFate, treasurerg Mary Ann Underdahl, social chairmang Lois Patton, student council representativeg and Charles Landreth, sergeant-at-arms. Class colors of green and gold were chosen and the deer was selected as the class mascot. On November 22 the Freshmen joined the Seniors in sponsoring a successful school dance and party. The Freshman class has been active in all phases of school activities and attended school regularly and have maintained a fair scholarship standard. Sixteen Freshmen are in the band, two' freshmen made letters in football, three in basketball and a large turnout is expected from our class in track and baseball. In the girl's intramural basketball schedule the Freshman team captained by Margery Hillis placed second in the final standings. A successful roller skating party ended our social events for the year.
