Class of 1969 Above: joe Rice served as president of the class of 1969 throughout its four years at A.C.H.S. The senior class of 1969 vvas an outstanding class in many respects. Led all four years hy class president, loe Rice, the Class left its mark on A.C.H.S. In their freshman year, these energetic and durahle stu- dents managed to survive Slave Day and gave the entire school a good indication of what to expect from this zealous class by winning first place in the float competition ofthe 1965 Homecoming. Aided by Mrs. German, the freshmen advisor, the class held the annual Freshman Carnival. The freshman football team impressed the school with its undefeated sea- son and promised some fine athletes for the next four years. During their sophomore year, the students became an active and integral part ofthe ASB. through their participa- tion inthe many school clubs and activities. With Mrs. john- son as advisor, the class proved that it was the most hard- working and busiest class by selling the most tickets to the Variety Show. Ordering junior rings, selling tickets for the junior Play, and preparing for the junior Senior Prom, Southern Seren- ade, were the major projects of the class of 1969 in their junior year. Mr. Forrest assisted the class vvith these and all its other activities throughout the year. The many graduation preparations, senior portraits, or- dering of announcements, measuring for caps and govvns, and the panaramic picture, were some of the events which kept the senior class busy. With the help of Mr. Ropes, the students managed to make it through the year. The class of 1969 excelled in intelligence with a record number of Na- tional Merit Semi-Finalists and a large number of California Scholarship Semi-Finalists. The class of 1969 was great, is great, and it will continue great as long as it retains its unique identity. The Senior Class officers were Nancy Thompson, treasurerg kathy Meck, secretaryg Kathy Schin- dler, historian, Eric lohansen, vice-president. Not pictured: Greg Nicholl, sergant-at-arms. 16
