For freshmen itfs a new begin- ning for sophomores and juniors it's the same old routine, and for seniors itfs the end of their high school years. Many changes occurred in the | school over the summer. Some M were evident, and some were not. ■ A picnic area was added by the I lower commons, along with a walkway for handicapped stu- dents. Eight new tennis courts were built right behind the park- r ing lot. An elevator and ventilation ' system were also added over the g summer. Although not its most popular point, school does include - along with friends, good times, sports, clubs, and other activities - CLASSES!?! While classes usually mean notes, labs, formu- las, dates, and sentence structure, to many stu- dents, classes mean a time for spacing out and daydrea ming. II—IIP While we can think of all kinds of excuses for being too busy to do homework, students always find time to eat. The cafe- teria and commons are great places to find people before school, during lunch hours, dur- ing free hours, and after school. While Stevenson is not exactly Paris, France, we do find many students donning fun and outrageous styles. Some like to ex- press themselves through clothes, others through hairstyles. Some of the more popular fashions were inspired by punk rock and by the movie Flashdance . With over 200 stu- dents added to last year’s figure, we are quickly finding out what the word over- crowded” means. Many students are not able to go to their lockers during the 5- minute passing peri- od, because their lock- ers are in the path of 111111 Students usually gather in the library or commons to study, gossip, or finish homework from the night before. They can be found here all hours of the day. These are the only places in the school where the students do not need passes. CHAPTER: 2 (spa'-shul e-V3nt ): 1. A high school activity in which many students gather to show their spirit. 2. A function that comes once a year and is much anticipated. 3- A change of pace from the usual school days. Incoming frosh registered August 24 and 23. The 26 was set aside tor transfer students and make-ups. Many sports teams were already busy practicing during registration week. 18 Pep assemblies were held at various times during the year to boost spirit between the classes, and throughout the school. They were also held to honor various indivi- duals and teams. This years homecoming pep assembly was the best ever. They featured cheerleaders promoting crowd involvement, pom-pon girls performing various routines, and team captains telling everyone what their game plans were. 19 The big day was November 4, 1983 when people joined the ISP club for their annual ISP breakfast. It cost $2.30 for adults, $2.00 for students and $1.00 for children under 12. The people received all the pancakes they could eat. two sausage links and juice for the money. The money raised goes to scholarships for Stevenson students that wish to be exchange students. The breakfast turned out to be a huge success. Everybody that attended had a good time. 20 The homecoming dance was the highest attended ever and was lots of fun. The creative decorations added to the atmosphere of the dance. The return of the band Chaos also added to the success of the dance. This years home- coming king and queen were Matt Moodhe and Robin Rosen. 22 23 24 26 CAST Sherry Bondi .
