Witli Gus Moreland, who is Southwestern Amateur
Champion, ,Iakie Gore, Billy Spenser, and Marc Anglen, all
of whom are last year,s veterans, the team appears to have
quite a good chance at championship in golf this year. Fred
Murray, a new comer, who has the makings of a good golfer,
but lacks experience is also on the team. Mr. Leftwich, the
coach, practices with the boys almost every day at Stevens
Park where Gus holds the course record for low score. The
team is improving each day and by the start of the season
should be in fine form.
There has been one practice match with Sunset in which
Oak Cliff was tied by a 3-3 score. Oak Cliff defeated Forest
on March 28 by a 4-2 score.

The Oak Cliff tennis cohorts under the guidance of Mr.
R. N. Smith have done line work thus far this season.
Against Sunset, the team won the boys' singles 6-4, 9-7, the
boys, doubles, 6-3, 6-2. They lost the girls' singles, 6-1,
6-1, and the girls' doubles 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. In the next match
against W'oodrow Wfilston, both the boys and girls won with
the following scores: boys, singles 6-2, 6-2, boys' doubles
6-2, 7-Sq girls' singles, 6-3, 6-4, girls' doubles 6-3, 6-4. The
boys' team is composed of Hugh Freasier, Julius Truelson,
and Seldon Cotton. The girls' team is made up of Phama
Wfright, Anna Mae Gassaway, and Natalie Sprague.
The team with such a record thus far in the season looks
good and these boys and girls should bring home the bacon
in the shape of tennis trophies as the teams of the past led
by the unconquerable Doc Barr did.
