As Freshmen we raised money by having a skating party which was quite profitable. It was a very exciting year. The Junior Class welcomed us by having a Halloween Party and three of the boys gained fame by setting off a cherry bomb in the hall by the Home-Ec. room. When we were Sophomores, we undertook many projects such as selling chances, having skating parties, and in the summers, holding bake sales. All was for one goal, our trip to Washington. Our girls had two weeks of torture when Miss Tilly was gym teacher. When Miss Tilly went to the army, Mr. Matsko came to the rescue and taught both girls and boys gym classes. Our new school was started in our Junior year. We had a sample fair, sold sweatshirts, Easter c ndy, and chances. By the end of the year we were able to finance our prom, The Hawaiian Luau, and still had money to spare. The time finally came for our class to go to Washington. We went in the fall and when we returned, we found that we had to keep on working in order to finish paying for the trip and finance our senior banquet. As a result, once again we sold chances, Christmas candy, and other things. Now we will graduate and leave dear old Adams High. As we look back we will remember our joys and sorrows, but we believe that all our experiences here will help us to be better citizens in the adult world we will soon become a part. 39 SCENES AROUND SCHOOL CLASS PREPARES AN ASSEMBLY SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY CLASS NINTH GRADE READING CLASS HURRAY ! ! CHARLES JOHNS - 1959 JOHN SMITH - 1960 This page is dedicated in memory of two of our classmates that God saw fit to call from this earth. PSALM 23 David’s Confidence in God’s Grace The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. 52 IN REMEMBRANCE ■ ACTIVITIES STUDENT COUNCIL ROW ONE, Left to Right; C. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT The Mirage Staff wishes to thank the students and the members of the faculty who have cooperated with us this year in trying to make our yearbook a success. We wish to thank the members of the faculty for permitting us to interrupt their classes; we would also like to thank the gym instructors for permitting us to interrupt their gym classes in order to take pictures; and last but not least, the Commercial Department for letting us use the typing room so many times. The editor wishes to thank Mr. Stein for his help with the yearbook and the members of the staff who have given up their study halls and their time after school to help her. 79 FAREWELL Now that graduation time is here, we the Seniors will say farewell to our classmates and teachers. As we graduate, we can look back over the years to the time when we first entered school and remember our teachers. None of us can ever forget the help and guidance they gave us. As we leave high school, some of us will become what the world calls a success and some of us may become failures, but what- ever we become we have ourselves to thank for all through life we have had and will have the hand of someone older and wiser extended to help us. It was our choice then and is our choice now whether to take that hand or not. The Senior Class PATRONS Mr. Milan Buchan Mr. and Mrs. Warren P.
