The cross-country season was a struggle in
its initial stages and turned out to be a very
enjoyable season. This year's team was very
enjoyable to coach even though our team
comprised the smallest team in the district.
The team is looking forward to a very suc-
cessful season next year . . . Albert Quintana

Maturity was the key word in describing this years soccer team. The positive influence of the three seniors on the rest of the squad made
this team a pleasure to coach. My only regret is that all of them can't return and play for a couple of more years. Even without them I look
forward to a good thing from the returning underclassmen. The team as a unit improved drastically and I know that we can pick up from
where we left off. This is especially true because of the dedication of my assistant coach John Ropheleau, whose contribution cannot be
measured.

S
Coach's Comments, lt's pretty difficult to say positive things
about a I - 8 Season, but the girls worked very hard. were very
cooperative to work with, and they all improved their perfor-
mances throughout the season, and that's all I could ask. We were
hampered by lack of members, which hurt us in dual events.

This year instead of the Snowball dance the Class of "8O" decided
to do something different, and decided to put on a 50's dance,
which was really a lot of fun. Music was provided by Mickey
Productions. The Royalty is from all 4 classes, but the Freshman
Royalty of Vicki Gagliardi and Larry Chamberlaine, were not
present at the dance.

I9 PROM SO
One final time that we really get together for an extra
special time. With the Juniors going all out to give the best
Prom yet, and hope that the Seniors will have an extra good
time!
The guys in their tux's, the gals in their formals, just
remembering the good times that we've shared and memo-
ries that are just too good to forget.
For this will really be the actual last time the Class of 'SO'
will be seen together at such a very formal event. Togeth-
er, anxiously we await for the crowning of the new Prom
king and queen, and so to you my fellow Seniors this poem
is written, in hopes that your classmates and the Great
Class of '8O' may never be forgotten!

Choraleers: The Choraleers
was formerly known as Show
Choir. The name was changed
because of the type of music
they perform. The Choraleers
sing music of three basic
styles. Madrigal, Show, and
Jazz. They give many pro-
grams during the year for com-
munity functions and partici-
pate at the C.U. Madrigal Festi-
val, the U.N.C. Vocal Jazz Con-
test and the Show Choir festi-
val and Grand Junction Colora-
do. They perform more than
the other two choirs and stu-
dents must audition for this
group.
CONCERT CHOIR: Concert choir is
made up of young ladies and men
grades 9-ll. The choir sings litera-
ture from all periods of music and
learns the various styles of choral
music. They are very active in mu-
sic department functions through-

The Music Department at Adams City High School has been very busy this past
year. They set for their goal the raising of enough money to take the whole
music department to the District Music Festival at Grand Junction Colorado.
This goal was met through the assistance of the newly formed Parents Music
Booster Club. ln addition to this project many of the students were participants
at Solo and Ensemble Contests this past Spring and received excellent ratings.
All of the bands and choirs competed at big group festivals and gave numerous
concerts during the school year. Those students who have been active members
in band or choir for an entire school year become eligible for a Music letter,

The spirit leaders of the school consist of five different
squads. These young ladies try out for cheerleading in the
Spring and practice during the summer for the coming
school year. They cheer for many of the Athletic events
which A.C.H.S. is a participant in. and assist with pep
assemblies. They attend Spirit Clinics during the summer
and compete at the Colorado Spirit' Competition held in
Colorado Springs. These girls spend many hours practicing
outside of school, and they must maintain good grades in
order to be a cheerleader or pom-pon member.

The "social studies" are defined as that portion of the curriculum which
deals specifically with men and women in dynamic relation to their
physical and social environment.
Social studies are concerned with a knowledge of how people are influ-
enced by their environment, how they use the environment to satisfy
individual and group needs, how customs and institutions have emerged:
how people attempt to solve current problems: and how they draw upon
their experiences to plan a future.
Social studies provide opportunity for each individual to obtain knowl-
edge, appreciation, standards, values, experience, acquire skills in atti-
tudes, toward human interrelations for people to function effectively as
individuals and as members of groups within society. - Carl Hays
