Juniors end the day by learning the causes of World War II in U. S. history. Social Studies Classes Study Past, Mr. Brown lectures to a history class in large group. One of the main reasons for taking social studies is to see life today in comparison with that of other times, in¬ cluding what has happened and what is to come. By dividing their time between small groups and large groups, stu¬ dents were able to get background ma¬ terial and then make it more relevant through discussions. Mr. Hilbert, Mr. Brown, and Mr. Smith combined to teach world history, U.S. history, government, psychology, sociology, and economics. 20

of Central ' s Practical Arts Dep ' t Grow This year in Home Ec the freshmen studied nutrition and made basic break¬ fasts . They also made basic sewing projects. The sophomores studied home nursing, childcare, and luncheons. In sewing they made dresses. For the juniors teas and foreign foods occupied their class hours. They also studied in¬ terior decoration and more advanced sewing. The seniors studied budgeting, consumer buying, individual projects in sewing, and foods for two people.
