Industrial arts prepares our architec¬ tural designers, engineers, draftsmen, and handy men of the future. In ’’shop the boys are taught the proper way to use hand and power tools, safely. These tools include the three basic power saws, the joiner, the circular, and the band saws. They also learn to use wood and metal lathes and various types of welding equipment. 26 The boys prepare themselves in learning how to handle the different types of saws.

and the World of Business There are many courses offered to the students in preparing for the business world. Mrs. Dillion helps prepare the A.C. girls to become better secretaries by teaching Secretarial Training. They are taught how to dress, how to conduct themselves in an office, how to help their boss, and how to operate many of the machines found in an office. She, along with Mr. Bryan, also teaches typ¬ ing to the young business men and women of tomorrow. Almost everyone will have to take care of books some time in life and Mr. Bryan helps to make this task easier. In Bookkeeping you are taught about the journals, different ledgers, balance sheets, etc. Mr. Habegger and Mr. Bryan teach a semester of Business Sales. You are taught the primary sell¬ ing techniques and what makes a business a success. A.C. Physical Education Driver’s Training Mr. Habegger shows his students in drivers training class the best way to plan a trip and to get the best gasoline mileage. Freshman and sophomore girls kept in good physical condition this year by participating in P.E. classes. Girls first warmed up doing calisthenics with the famous Chicken Fat record. After warming up they were eager to display their talents in basketball, volleyball, softball, and tumbling. Freshman and sophomore boys weren ' t left out. They keep their muscles swelling by parti¬ cipating in a variety of sports also. Drivers training was a course offered during the summer at Adams Central. An increase in enrollment caused the addition of one more driver education car and teacher. Would you know what to do if a tire suddenly blew out? This and other problems were presented to drivers training students for their in¬ spection and solution. Practical ap¬ plication of ideas was received as stu¬ dents accumulated their driving hours. Mrs. Stine teaches her P.E. classes the arts of acro¬ bats.
