Class History One bright September day in 1939, fifteen of our Senior classmates started their twelve year journey through A. C. H. S. under the supervision of Miss Luella Thomas. They were: Jane Gleason, Sylvia Marsh, Martha Jimerson, Evelyn Mellon, Joan Smith, Jean Spink, Jane Harrington, Bar- bara Cagwin, Gerald Bezner, Charles Bird, John Dixon, John Griffith, Frank Macy, Gerry McIntosh, and David Thompson. During the following five years we were joined by Fred Ryor, Martha Edwards, Constance Sleight, and Audrey Smith. After six years of constant struggle we entered junior high school. We were then joined by the Rodman students, Ronald Brown, James Monroe, and Kay Bibbins. We were also joined by others from various places. They were Robert Moore, Eleanor Allard, Dorothy Spearance, and Marie Tubo- lino. As we entered into the eight grade we added to our enrollment Ivan Cornwell, Gerald Petrie, and Helen La Comb. Although underclassmen, in the eyes of the Seniors, we were proud to become Freshmen. We added Esther Van Epps, Norma Hamblin, Wilma Hamblin, and Carl Tyo to our group. We chose Mrs. Cramer as Class Advisor. The officers of the year were as follows: President, Bob Moore; Vice President, Frank Macy; Secretary, Jerry Davis; and Treasurer, Gerald Bezner. Student Council Representatives were Jean Spink and John Dixon. Dues for the year were $1.00. In May we spon- sored a Jane and Carl Show. For our own entertainment we had two class picnics. We began our Sophomore year with Mr. Lyle Cady as our capable class advisor. Our officers were: President, Frank Macy; Vice Presi- dent, Sylvia Marsh; Secretary, Barbara Cagwin; and Treasurer, Gerald Bezner. Representatives to the Student Council were David Thompson and John Dixon, the Treasurer. We decided on $2. 50 a year for dues and this amount was to continue through all the rest of our school years. At some of the basketball games we sold Adams Center High School banners. On March 31st a dance was held and music was furnished by Gene's orches- tra. We had a prosperous year besides the good times that were enjoyed by all. At last we became Juniors---surprised? The officers for the year were: President, Sylvia Marsh; Vice President, Robert Moore; Secretary, Helen LaComb; and Treasurer, Gerald Bezner. Our student council representatives were Joan Smith and Frank Macy. Mr, Cady continued to be our advisor. We were joined by Stanley Burdick, Robert Loomis and Fred Van Waldick. During our Junior year we had a talent show, a food sale, a Christmas Dance, a Spring Prom, and a Junior Play called In Walked Judy . 46

We sold A. C. H. S. feathers, autograph books, shirts and jackets. Most important, at least to us, was the buying of our class rings with the Hour- glass emblem. After eleven years of constant struggle we are now dignified Seniors. Our officers for the year were: President, Gerald Bezner; Vice President, Robert Loomis; Secretary, Jane Harrington; and Treasurers, John Griff- ith and Marie Tubolino. Mr. Cady is still with us as Class Advisor. Stu- dent Council Representative is Frank Macy. Refreshments were sold at all the games. We sponsored three dances, one on Halloween, one at Christmas, and one at the beginning of football season. Our Senior Play entitled Aunt Cathie's Cat was presented in December. The directors were Miss Rennie, Miss Corey, and Mr. Cady. On March 20th we held a Donkey Basketball game. On Good Friday morning, March 23rd, thirty-three of our class board- ed the New York Central at Watertown and started for New York City. Our chaperons were Mr. and Mrs. Cady and Mrs. Avery. The fun and excit- ement enjoyed by all is too great to tell about here. The Juniors and Seniors are planning to sponsor the spring Prom to- gether this year.
