Class Prophecy On this memorable summer day in 1961, we, the Class of '51 are hav- ing a class reunion. We are meeting at the modern and attractive home of Gerald and Martha Bezner. Some of the class members have become famous, while others are just plain happy. Let's see what has happened to each and everyone of these: Stan Burdick is now advertising manager for a very large firm in New York. Unable to attend: Charles Bird is playing his trumpet, just joined up with Vaugh Monroe. Ronnie Brown, his pretty blonde wife, and two children are enjoying life on their newly purchased farm near Rodman. Ivan Cornwell is now head draftsman at the Air Brake. Ivan always did like mechanical drawing, didn't you Ivan? Fred Bugger Van Waldick is now operating Dashley-Van Waldick, car dealer in Adams. Fred is a happy and contended bachelor. Jeanne Spink has finished Art School-is now assistant to A1 Capp. Lucky Al! Bob Moore runs a Fix-it Shop in Adams Center, especially for cars, since his is always in need of repairing. 38 Class Prophecy Jane Gleason - Jane has a good job as a private secretary for the boss up at the unemployment Insurance Company! She's still chasing Glen but has just about given up hope! Keep it up kid, you'll catch him yet! Audrey Smith-Audrey is still driving all over Adams Center without a license, I imagine, but now instead of an old Chrysler she has part interest in a new Buick. Evelyn Mellon - Evelyn has finally graduated from Nursing School, but is she nursing now, of course, She's nursing all the sick calfs on the Frederick farm. Sylvia Marsh - Sylvia is now nursing in a hospital in New York City. We understand she has her eye on a very handsome Eye Specialist. Sylvia you lucky girl. Marie Tubolino - Believe it or not Marie is still single, but she's ex- pecting an engagement ring from John pretty soon now. He is still in the service and Marie has trouble keeping track of him. Helen LaComb - Helens dream of being a private secretary has come true. She is working in Washington for the Navy Department. She was unable to be here today with the rest of us. Connie Sleight - Connie has a flourshing business all her own. She's so busy I don't imagine she'll be able to attend. I hope I don't have to go to her shop on business. You see she's a mortician. Jim Monroe has married that cute little blonde, together they own an estate in them thar Rodman hills. Frank Macy is now employed at our old alma mater, they just couldn't get along without him. He is still the only person who can run the movie projector. Unable to attend: John Griffith and John Dixon are making the Marines their career. Although John D. has his dream girl, (Pic) John G. is still hunting. Gerry McIntosh has finally purchased that beautiful farm in Cortland county, which he has wanted for so long. We hear he has a very attrac- tive partner. Fred Ryor is still drawing, only now his work is more interesting, as he has his own model, a cute little brunette. Jane Harrington or Tess as she is known to her many friends has land- ed a wonderful job at the telephone office. She has finally landed a man too and is planning to be married in the fall. Her husband to be is a carpenter and is building their home. Esther Van Epps-Fred and Esther have been married five years now and have a little girl 1 l 2 whom they named Audrey Kay Cole! She is so sweet with her long red curls! Fred is now running Cole's store so he is really busy. 39 Carl Tyo-Carl is still in the used car business. He isn't making too much profit but he, his wife and little girl manage somehow. Although we don't know how. David Thompson - Well, Doc just got out of the service a few months ago. You see he decided to make it his career, then after twenty or so years he could retire. It's not as easy as it sounds is it Dave? Gerald Petrie - As we know Gerald and Jeannette are happily married and have settled down on a little farm on the outskirts of Adams. Eleanor Allard - Eleanor has returned from college which she has been attending. And is now head secretary back at our old Alma Mater, A. C. H. S. Kay Bibbins - Kay has finally found her dream man, and you guessed it; she married a farmer. She always said she wanted to live down on a farm. They own two farms. Eleanor Slye - Eleanor has finally decided to stop roaming the country on that sports team as she is getting rather old, but she has been offered a job coaching a girls basketball team in Watertown. Bob Loomis - Bob is now making a living as a poet. In fact he has had several books of poetry published. You're all probably familiar with A CHILD'S GARDEN OF CURSES by Robert Lewis Loomis. Dorothy Spearance - We have sort of lost track of Dorothy, but we hear something about her keeping house for a Lowell somebody or other. Martha Edwards - Well, we all knew this would happen. Martha is a well-known nurse at the new hospital just built in Rochester. Recently a dashing young intern has been keeping Martha's schedule quite full. Soon she will be singing him to sleep instead of her patients in Room 625. Norma Hamblin - We all know that Norma was a whizz in softball in her high school days, but you should see her now. She is captain of the famous girls softball team, which travels all over the country. Wilma Hamblin - Wilma got married soon after she graduated. She is living on a small but prosperous farm in Cophenhagen. We certainly hope it continues to be prosperous and we know all her years of Home- making will come in handy now. Joan Smith - You know that Martha Jimerson is married but did you know that Joan and Martha are a singing team in Vaudville. Joan's being a nurse is handy because she has to help receive all of their audiences. Barbara Cagwin - Barbara isn't married yet, but is still roaming around Canton looking for a prospect. 40 Orchestra FRONT ROW, left to right: E. Lee, S, Fredericks, A. Knapp, E, Mellon, B. Cagwin, J. Class History One bright September day in 1939, fifteen of our Senior classmates started their twelve year journey through A. C. H. S. under the supervision of Miss Luella Thomas. They were: Jane Gleason, Sylvia Marsh, Martha Jimerson, Evelyn Mellon, Joan Smith, Jean Spink, Jane Harrington, Bar- bara Cagwin, Gerald Bezner, Charles Bird, John Dixon, John Griffith, Frank Macy, Gerry McIntosh, and David Thompson. During the following five years we were joined by Fred Ryor, Martha Edwards, Constance Sleight, and Audrey Smith. After six years of constant struggle we entered junior high school. We were then joined by the Rodman students, Ronald Brown, James Monroe, and Kay Bibbins. We were also joined by others from various places. They were Robert Moore, Eleanor Allard, Dorothy Spearance, and Marie Tubo- lino. As we entered into the eight grade we added to our enrollment Ivan Cornwell, Gerald Petrie, and Helen La Comb. Although underclassmen, in the eyes of the Seniors, we were proud to become Freshmen. We added Esther Van Epps, Norma Hamblin, Wilma Hamblin, and Carl Tyo to our group. We chose Mrs. Cramer as Class Advisor. The officers of the year were as follows: President, Bob Moore; Vice President, Frank Macy; Secretary, Jerry Davis; and Treasurer, Gerald Bezner. Student Council Representatives were Jean Spink and John Dixon. Dues for the year were $1.00. In May we spon- sored a Jane and Carl Show. For our own entertainment we had two class picnics. We began our Sophomore year with Mr. Lyle Cady as our capable class advisor. Our officers were: President, Frank Macy; Vice Presi- dent, Sylvia Marsh; Secretary, Barbara Cagwin; and Treasurer, Gerald Bezner. Representatives to the Student Council were David Thompson and John Dixon, the Treasurer. We decided on $2. 50 a year for dues and this amount was to continue through all the rest of our school years. At some of the basketball games we sold Adams Center High School banners. On March 31st a dance was held and music was furnished by Gene's orches- tra. We had a prosperous year besides the good times that were enjoyed by all. At last we became Juniors---surprised? The officers for the year were: President, Sylvia Marsh; Vice President, Robert Moore; Secretary, Helen LaComb; and Treasurer, Gerald Bezner. Our student council representatives were Joan Smith and Frank Macy. Mr, Cady continued to be our advisor. We were joined by Stanley Burdick, Robert Loomis and Fred Van Waldick. During our Junior year we had a talent show, a food sale, a Christmas Dance, a Spring Prom, and a Junior Play called In Walked Judy . 46 We sold A. C. H. S. feathers, autograph books, shirts and jackets. Most important, at least to us, was the buying of our class rings with the Hour- glass emblem. After eleven years of constant struggle we are now dignified Seniors. Our officers for the year were: President, Gerald Bezner; Vice President, Robert Loomis; Secretary, Jane Harrington; and Treasurers, John Griff- ith and Marie Tubolino. Mr. Cady is still with us as Class Advisor. Stu- dent Council Representative is Frank Macy. Refreshments were sold at all the games. We sponsored three dances, one on Halloween, one at Christmas, and one at the beginning of football season. Our Senior Play entitled Aunt Cathie's Cat was presented in December. The directors were Miss Rennie, Miss Corey, and Mr. Cady. On March 20th we held a Donkey Basketball game. On Good Friday morning, March 23rd, thirty-three of our class board- ed the New York Central at Watertown and started for New York City. Our chaperons were Mr. and Mrs. Cady and Mrs. Avery. The fun and excit- ement enjoyed by all is too great to tell about here. The Juniors and Seniors are planning to sponsor the spring Prom to- gether this year. The one last goal of the class is graduation. After this we will all take our various paths. Jane Harrington Barbara Cagwin 47 LOOMIS SHELL SERVICE G. A. Loomis, Prop.
