Come In Peace Come In Love Come In Joy October 15, 1971 — the day A-C beat the tar out of the O-M Bulldogs with a margin of twenty-nine points and a score of 35 to 6. This year customs were changed. The Thurs- day night pep rally saw the crowning of Queen Sharon and King Doug. The whole week was celebrated at the high school with days set aside for dressing down, mourning the defeat- ed, and dressing up. On Thursday, mourning day, a coffin was set up in the comer of the main hall and a hearse was parked outside the doors to prepare the gridiron for the slaughter the next night. During halftime the marching band performed while the class floats were paraded around the track and judged on appearance and thematic appropri- ateness. The winner was the juniors float Victory in Sight, followed by the sopho- mores and seniors, respectively. After the judging, the king, queen, and her candidates were introduced to the fans in the stands. After the game the sophomores sponsored the traditional homecoming dance with the Shades of Dawn performing. The sopho- mores chose to use the theme Coming in Peace, Coming in Love, Coming in Joy. The bonfire fired the Bombers up for their win over O-M. Also aiding the squad was the great spirit, not only of the students but the community as well. Everyone will agree that with the A-C team’s desire and the coaches help, homecoming was a special night. Mourning the corpse of a dead O-M player (played realistically by Linda Carl) is Mary Reha. Cheers went up in the streets of both Adair and Casey as elementary and senior high students rallied for victory. 16
