The Bombers made their debut victoriously as they battled to a second place final standing in the race for the top. The Bombers finished with a 13-5 over all record. A-C placed three players on the first team all Little Eight Conference. Mike Schmeling- catcher, Pete Fay-second base, and Brad Reinhardt-outfielder,-took honors in this category. Dwight Dinkla, Craig Bassett and Ken Carl were named to the second-team all-conference team. A-C's midget team finished with an even 5-5 record. Bob Fay earned the highest batting average totaling .400. John Mowry placed second in batting with a .347 average, while he ham- mered in 12 runs, and led in home-runs. Dave Slayton led the pitching assault and batted a third place rating of .278. The teams were coached by Forrest Schnobrich and Jim Frazee. Sixty-five players composed the team which blasted opponents for 185 points against the foes 86. The Bombers, however, ended up sharing the title with C-M, each eclipsing identical 6-1 records. A lot can be remembered about this victorious season. Everything from the mud and rain which prevailed at B-F, to the Bomber's triumphant gain of Co-Champs at Earlham. The Bombers finished with a 7-3 overall record and at one time boasted a rating of 20th inthe state and sixth in Southwest Iowa. Jim Moore and Rex Turner were voted by the players as co-captains. Vance Griffith, John Mowry, and Brad Reinhardt were selected to the first team all-Little Eight Conference on offense.
