Text from Pages 1 - 160 of the 1972 volume:

THE WE 1972 Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. . . You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. . . With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. --Desideratathe graduate .....................................................5 the undergraduate 27 the system ......................................................48 the musician ....................................................64 the organization ............................................... 78 the happenings 98 the athlete ................................................... 113 the supporters ................................................ 132 2Mr. Lowell Reese A TRIBUTE Mr. Lowell Reese, math teacher at Ada High School and former coach whose teams set outstanding records down through the years, was awarded the highest honor the village of Ada can bestow when he was named the 14th annual Distinguished Citizen by the Town and Gown Association members in 1970. The choice of Mr. Reese for this high honor was made on the basis "as a citizen dedicated to serve youth, as a teacher inspired to great service in the recreation and well-being of the Ada community and an exemplification of loyalty and devotion to his county." Mr. Reese was born at Trumbell and moved to Ada with his family as a young boy. He was graduated from Ada High School in 1931 where he was well-known for his athletic achievements. He received an AB degree from ONU in 1935 and became a teacher and coach. His teaching career was interrupted when he was called into active service with the U.S. Army during World War II in which he was critically wounded. In the beginning of his career, he taught one year at Lyons and one year at Bristolville; at West Unity from 1937-42; At Ada, 1942-43; At Forest, 1947-52; and again at Ada High School from 1952 until his retirement in 1972. He has an outstanding coaching record at Forest, as well as at Ada High School. After ms coaching career, he served as faculty manager. He devoted many hours as a loyal and interested citizen in im proving the park facilities, particularly the athletic facilities. He has been an influence and inspiration to iny young paopla •» a taacher and coach.4DON'T PLA Y NO MORE OF THEM SAD SONGS. LENNY THE GRADUATESPresident... Carey Clum Vice-President... Some of their exciting activities were learning new folk songs and dances for the French and Spanish Mardi Gras banquet. They were also fortunate enough to have Juan Manzo from Mexico as their "Honorary President." Towards the end of the year they held a going-away party for him.
