Then came tlme for the commerclal and guess who the slnger was DICK S1C8Tdl Another guest on the pro gram xas, Donna Schlampp, that glamorous soc1al1te Donna was wear1ng a black evenlng dress drlpplng wlth Jewels as she announced her engage ment to Count T1co Tico of Spain. Our sophomore year meant another struggle, this tlme with Geometry but we all managed to pass Miss Whelan proved to be a worthy sponsor, helping us to plan numerous picnics Will we ever forget the sm oo r1de to the class p1cn1c at Eldora 1n a cattle truck' Thls year we lost Dor1s Burman In our Junior year we sponsored the Junlor-Senlor Banquet, UOut of This Worldh--and we w1shed we were from the day we started worklng on it! However, with Mlss Anderson, lass Wurster, and Mr Dean as our sponsors, we had the best banquet ever we lost Arthur Meinders, Francls Kuper and an old timer, Joe Nelson, but galned Verle Helsabeck and Luella Fis cher Th1s year the class presented NA Date With Judyn w1th ROX16 as Judy and Terry as 00218 and what a handsome couple they made' Ruth Kaus and Charlotte Kle1n were elected to the Nat'l Honor Soc1ety At last, proud sen1ors of the class of 'SOI we galned Sylvia Ander son and lost Verle Helsabeck and Chemlstry and Driver's Trainln en 8 tered our lives. Bes1de wash1ng windows, we have been kept busy with numerous aCt1V1t1eS The class play HThe Inner Wlllyu, w1th Morris Ackerman as Willy, proved to be quite a sensation Durlng six weeks of pract1ce, MOTT1S never 1ng three young glrls' senlors at El Juco Day Along about thls tlme, peting in the distr1ct forty-one students on tlred of the full attentlon of s1x women mnclud On March 31, Ellsworth College entertalned the and the1r musical comedy, UTassels In The Airn many seniors were runnlng here and there, com and state muslc contests. May 16, Des Moines saw i the1r Sklp Day--the capital, museum, radio sta- tlons and newspapers all interested us--almost as much as the ride home. Wlth the a1d of Miss Rath and Mr. Stark, our ever-helpful sponsors, we climaxed our Beam sales-campaign by glving a part Ma S 1950. Y Y .150 we end our days at Ackley High. It seems that from the class of 'SO one of the girls, Henrietta Abbas, had become a teacher and one of the boys, Clair Holdgrafer, was the most successful prin- cipal ever hired at Ackley. Reluctantly I left my home town and set out on the next lap of my journey which took me to Omaha On the plane to Omaha I met Dolores Win ers, stewardess, and Duane Hanig, passenger, who, after the plane landed, took me to Rosemaxy's Drive In Theatre The film featured the new Rudolph Valentino who turned out to be none other than Harold Lin daman! There was also an animated cartoon which was drawn by the now fannus cartoonist, Paul DeVr1es After the theatre we stopped in at the home of Roxie Fossler W found her sitting on the porch knitting a rug Roxie was able to tell me the whereabouts of some of the others Velma Holcomb was with the J nuw'Lynch Death Dodgers Glennus Hinders is a professor of German at Northwestern Ronald Harken had opened a large hatchery in the out skirts of Omaha The next day we stopped at the Kaus Clinic which was under the direct on of that eminert doctor, Ruth Kaus On the staff of the hos oital, as pediatrician was Bill Heffelmeier Ruth took me to the pera ng room where two serious cases were being treated They were Norris Ackerman and Kerle hevenhoven, who had been in a fight the night before Bidding Ruth adiea, I took the plane to Reno, Nevada Here I ner+ a 'ew hours in Gail Schoenemann's Gambling Casino which was mas q e ading under the 'gu se of a dude ranch Lurking among the guests was that infamous international soy, Madame Y, who was in reality, rern duesman She was sitting at the table with Elmer Keninger, who was now a nrole sional wine connoisseur I learned that the large ranch next door was owned and operated by Leonard Oelmann list as I was beg nning to enjoy myself at the Casino, I was sirprised oy Dorothy Pies, the secret service woman assigned to my pro tection Dorothy claimed that the pres1dent's wife should not be in dulging r ich activities so she took me back to Washington, greatly fa-Q ..-+- XX X 1 x , E I L L: ' U . . .
