The purpose of the club is to provide needed services to the school and community. At school, the girls try to provide assistance to all groups at Acadiana - students, faculty, staff and administration. GSC's biggest proiect, and the one the girls enjoy most, is the sale of carnations and roses for Valentine's Day. Along with many other projects, they provide money for two grants for students attending Close-Up Foundation, girls' athletics awards, and two students for Pelican State, Both Mrs. Brown and Ms. Servat have been with GSC for over 3 years. They divide the responsibilities of supervising various club activities and the duties of of- ficers. They assist in the planning of activities and meetings, and then check after- wards to be sure that club members have fulfilled their commitments. Mrs. Brown has a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from USL. She is present- ly working toward a Master's degree from USL in secondary teaching. Mrs. Lineherger Heads Spanish Clubs Los Paisanos, meaning fellow countrymen, has been headed for the past eleven years by MRS. REBECCA LINEBERGER. Mrs. Lineberger first pursued her education at Newberry College and later went on to study at Duke University in North Carolina. After graduating she spent four years teaching in various schools around the United States and Cen- tral America. Since Mrs. Lineberger's arrival at Acadiana, the Spanish department has grown from three classes to thirteen classes, eventually making the Spanish Club one of the finest and largest clubs at Acadiana High School. Another point of interest is Mrs. Lineberger's involvement in the Spanish Honor Society. This club is a national organization which is open to any student who has excelled in Spanish for three semesters or more. The Spanish Honor Society is proud to announce their adoption of a five year old child from Uruguay, whom they support each month.
