G. Waguespack: An Award-Winning Band Director Gerald Waguespack has been Director of the Band Program at Acadiana High School for the past six years. Prior to his arrival at Acadiana, he conducted the Rayne High School Band to many honors and awards for six years, Waguespack's first teaching position was at Vinton High School in Vinton, Loui- siana. His responsibilities at Acadiana include directing the award winning Marching Band, conducting the Cadet, Concert and Symphonic Bands as well as the administration of a Band Program ol 185 students. Since his arrival at Acadiana in 1979, all aspects ofthe Band Program have enjoyed the con- tinued success established by the school's previous Band Directors. Under his leadership, Acadiana's Symphonic Band has been the only class quad-A band in the state to attain the Sweepstakes Award at the State Band Festival lor the past two years. His professional affiliations include: Southwest Loui- siana Band Directors Association, Music Educators National Conference, Louisiana Music Educators Association, 1st Chair of America, Phi Beta Mu and he is presently a candidate for membership into the prestigious American School Band Directors Association. ln great demand as a ClinicianlAdjudicator, Waguespack has judged Marching and Symphonic events throughout Louisiana as well as in the states of Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Florida, Arizona and Illinois. He was inducted into Phi Beta Mu Na- tional Honorary Band Directors fraternity in 1977 and received that organization's Outstanding Band Director of Louisiana Award in 1980-81. Stl itll B . e. 1 , e fu -. Go-Sponsors of FBLA Achieve Results MRS, EMMA PRICE and MRS. EMMA DOMINGUE are the co-sponsors of the Future Business Leaders of America. Their jobs are to advise the officers ofthe club, organize conventions, decide which students participate in events, and encourage students to study for these events. Mrs. Price has been head sponsor for three years and before that time, the assistant sponsor for four years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from Southern Univer- sity. She also attended USL where she did most ol her studies. She taught at Sl. Paul Elementary before teaching at Acadiana. Currently the Vice-President of the National Collegiate Association for Secretaries at USL, she also holds the office of National Deputy Publicity Director of NCAS. Mrs, Domingue has been co-sponsor of FBLA for approximately ten years and head sponsor for one. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Education and Social Studies at USL. She then taught at Judice High School before coming to Acadiana. Mrs. Domingue is a member of the Lafayette Parish Association of Classroom Teachers and the Lafayette Parish Vocational Educa- tion Association. Under the direction of Mrs. Price and Mrs. Domingue, the AHS FBLA enrollment increased 100'Ve last year.
