Beta Club, one of Acadiana's honor clubs, participated in various activities to benefit the school. Early in October, the annual membership drive was held, followed by a candlelight induction for the new members. The Annual candy cane sales at Christmas proved to be very successful. Students found pleasure in not only receiving the candy canes before Christmas, but also in buying them for their friends and teachers. The club's district convention was held in Breaux Bridge. Members at- tended and placed second in school competition. At the end of the year, the club participated in the March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon. The group also attended a convention in Alexandria, competed at Flally, and at- tended a regional officers' meeting where Paul Miller was chosen regional president. Foreign Language Week found the French Club work- ing hard, but having lots of fun. Members hung signs and colorful posters around campus to promote the French language and culture. Elementary schools were treated to the club's French production of Little Red Riding Hood. Other activities included a competition in a Parish Poster contest where Chancey Martin placed second and Karen Thibodeaux placed third. P.R.I.D.E. is a club concerned with the brotherly relationship be- tween all people. This year the P.R.l.D.E. organization took a trip to the World's Fair to visit and learn more about the many different places in the world. The group also hosted a Black History pro- gram in February. Individuals made posters to display in the cafeteria, while entertain- ment was provided by par- ticipating parish schools. Groups sang, danced, and gave humorous interpreta- tions. Guest speakers also focused on black history topics. P,R.l.D.E. is spon- sored by Ms. Louella Cook. P.R.I.D.E. P.Fl.I.D.E. 203
