R i wr-1' Soccer Cheerleaders A relatively new squad, the soccer cheerleaders showed spirit and loyalty in backing the soccer team. l s'J'..J'l ..2'l'IrJ Junior Varsity Cheerleaders The JV cheerleading squad fast became a group well known for enthusiasm both at AHS and elsewhere. While at- tending 'camp at NSU at the beginning of the season, they excelled tn every aspect of competition. The cheerleaders received many superior ratings and learned numerous new chants and cheers. The 'squad experienced a radical change in structure this year with the addition of male cheerleaders to aid in forming pyramids and performing dou- ble stunts. Two boys were chosen for this year's JV group. The squad participated in games, pep rallies and homecoming activities. Selected before the year began, the girls practiced hard learn- ing new chantss and cheers. True Ran' Ftousers, the squad was always making preparations for creating a spirited at- mosphere at AHS. The pep squad prepared for the new year all summer long beginning in July with a week of camp held for the officers. Then a week and a half of camp was held in August for about one hundred spirited girls. There, they learned yells, got to know one another better, made posters and even learned a new marching routine. To reduce travel expenses the pep squad sponsored a victory dance and col- lected fees from the girls. During the year, the squad took part in pep rallies and attended all football and basketball games where they showed a tremendous amount of school spirit. The group also gave a social for both teams and was in charge of the Basketball Homecoming decorations. Even after the season ended, the pep squad still participated in many ac- tivities and continued to display school spirit.
