Coached by Mr. Don Alonzo and Mr. James Simmons, the Acadiana Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman teams received first places in their divisions. Setting a new junior varsity record in the high hurdles was Lee Arceneaux with a time of 16.4. In shot put Shad Griffin set a new freshman record of 39-4,3A feet. Setting a new sophomore record was Ronald Duhon in the 100 meter dash. Bubba Lagasse had a time of 10:59 in the two-mile run, setting a new school record and Corey Francis had a jump of 5'8 for a new high jump record for Acadiana. Ryan Langlinais, Jonathan Carmouche, Doug Palombo and Ronald Duhon had a time of 3:32.52 for another school record in the mile relay. Girls' Track Places I in Slate Meet Q c D Under the direction of Coach Latiolais and Coach Alice Denais, the girls' track team had an eventful year. Though a small team, they displaced much effort and are to be congratulated. While participating in various meets, Angele Catrou placed third in the 440 yard dash at both the Lafayette High and Parish Meets. Stacy Walters placed third in the mile run and sixth in the 880 yard dash at the Lafayette High Relays. Finishing third in District for the 880 yard dash, Stacy qualified as an alternate for Regional Com- petition. Regan Booth, a freshman, placed third in the 110 yard hurdles at both the Lafayette High and Parish Meets. By placing 2nd in the hurdles at District and Regionals she became eligible to com- pete at the state level. There, she placed sixth. GIRLS TRACK 149
