THEM 12 48 27 14 21 37 10 18 30 TOURNAMEN TS AHS PLACE 6th 15th 7th 2nd 2nd 3rd 19th HCHDIHNH WRESTLERS THKE HONORS Grappling for points in the dual matches, the AHS Wrestling Team concluded the year with an impressive 7 and 2 record. Although the tournament record was not as successful, the team netted second place at both the Lafayette Dual and the Metro Tournament. After finishing third at the Regional Tournament, the wrestlers went to the State Tournament where they placed nineteenth. ln addition to participating in tournaments, the AHS wrestlers also hosted the Acadiana Tuneup Tournament where teams were given the opportunity to warm up for the season. No team points were awarded at the Tuneup. Three seniors, Troy Mercier, Todd Sonnier, and Eric Manuel, will be leaving the team this year. However, five of the seven members who qualified for state will return next year. Scotty Roy, the only sophomore who qualified for state, will be returning. Members of the team were assisted at the tournaments by the Mat Helpers under the direction of their captain, Kim Thibodeaux. The girls keep time and scores at the matches and tournaments and lend general support to the wrestlers. WRESTLING 117
