JV'El:i .' 51 I 'HUP AHS Flattens Forlier The sixth-ranked AHS football team f'rammed it to the Tarpons in a wild, double-overtime game, beating Fortier 42-40. The game wasn't decided until the very last play, when Acadiana High's Ram defense stopped a Tarpon two-point conversion. Guess who made five touchdowns tor the night with two being in the double-overtime for the second time in 1984? Of course, it was Troy Jones who also averaged seven yards per carry. His awesome running back capability truly enabled him to be recorded as one of AHS's Most Valuable Players in the school's history. Special gratification also went to Brian Poindexter, Andrew Barron, and Bubba Savell who made the beginning touchdown. Great job, Ftamsl Rams Squish NISH The next best game to AHS vs. LHS istAcadlana taking on the New Iberia Yellow Jackets, especially when Acadiana beats them 26-21. The exciting comeback victory over NlSH set Ram spirits high with Troy Jones once again being the star of the game. Troy began the game with a 101 yard starting kick'-off return to set the standard for the remaining game time. He also scored all four touchdowns, adding them to his mountingseasonal touchdown record. , , The Ram's detensive team had another great game, successfully stopping New lberia's offensive plays. Wlth Lee Arceneaux's 3 tackles and 7 assists, and Troy Thlbodeaux's unbelievable 4 tackles, 5 assists, and 2 fumble recoveries, there was no stopping the Rams' onslaughter- ing pace, Good iob, Rams!
