A Message from the Faculty
With the attention of the world focused on the Ecumenical Council to be held early in the 1960's, the theme of your yearbook seems to be particularly appropriate. In an action which expresses his deep personal concern for all the world, our Holy Father, Pope John XXIII has given us a forceful reminder that we can hope for unity only as a result of charity.
The realization of your theme, therefore, will entail the personal response of each one of you to the love of Christ, and the diffusion of this love throughout that segment of society in which you ire intended to be an influence.

SISTER MARY STEPHEN. M.A. University of Notre Dame Assistant Principal English

Foreword
The pattern of our education is comprised of the imparting and assimilation of truth; truth through knowledge for our material and physical development, and truth through wisdom for the growth of the soul. The ideals and ideas presented to us, correlating the growth of the whole person, are those expedient for the fulfillment of our vocation as Christian women in our modernistic, materialistic environment.
We realize that in this time of formation and development, in order to foster in our lives the attitudes and ideals of young Christian women, we must put into practice in our lives qualities emanating from Mary and the virtues we admire in her, applying them while standing firm against our trials in all the situations we find ourselves facing. Towards the fulfillment of our role of exemplifying Catholic ideals, may we reproduce Mary’s true detachment of self and deep humility, and in our development of purity and prudence may we devoid ourselves of envy, criticism, and suspicion, reflecting instead, Christian joy, fraternal charity, and devout love. When these united virtues animate the entirety of our lives, the treasure, the gem we possess to offer to the world, is a living, vital force; it is a perfect resemblance of The Ideal Woman, and a model of the true spirit of Catholic life.
