Bedeelked in Ties of Bright Re the color so dear to our hearts, we, the class of '52, plunged into the new school year, taking our place as the sophomores of O.L.P. Hearty picadors and toreadors, our first move was to elect a matador and leader, Isabel Trevino. Unlike our mascot, the shy, quiet Ferdinand, we longed for action and excite- ment. With our patron's feast day so near at hand, we could waste no time. Soon we had completed the preparations, which resulted in a picnic by the swimming pool, preceded by prayers in honor of St. Michael, our guide. We also took an active part in the yearbook and Christmas box drives, winning both. During basketball season, our beloved Ferdinand was unearthed, dusted, polished, and set up as a warning to all other classes. The cheering section, spirits lifted by the arrival of beautiful, red and white beanies, built up lung power, practiced cheers-and prayed. No wonder it was the sophomore team that walked off with the intramural victory. Lent came, as also did our successful bunco party for the Bishops' Relief Drive. Our operetta, i'False Fernandof' used up the noon hours before we began practice for Field Day. Then there was the senior dinner, the last token of our esteem for our sister class.
