coming game.
The 1980 Homecoming game pitted two
teams in the race for the title Afterward there
would be only one The Irish proved who was
the one, with o 20 8 trouncing of the second
rated Limestone Psoclsets
The inspired Irish defense played brilliantly
Limestone, the leading Conference team in
passing yardage was held to a mere 68 yards
The defense continually made the big plays
including a forced fumble by Joe Girard: which
was recovered by Dave O Connell This
switched the momentum to the Irish side
Now it was trme for the offense to talse
over. With Limestone geared for the pass Brad
Blalsey found another way to beat them the
run. Blalsey gained 109 yards rushing scoring 8
touchdowns. The Irish as a team rolled up 248
yards rushing. This was due to outstanding line
The Irish proved once again it is not advan
tageous for a foe to play in a Spalding Home

The 1981 Girls' Softball Team had a winning season,
with a win-loss record Cla-103 which broke the school
record for the most wins. The team, coached by Ms.
Mickey Schallau, had much support from strong under-
classmen performances. Sophomore Jean Klein, in her
first experience as catcher, did exceptionally well. Senior
members of the team - Julie Compton Cpitcher, center
field, shortstopbg Lisa Landry 62nd basebg Laurie McDan-
ough C1st base, Grd basebg Laura Eason Caulfield? -
provided leadership and helped give experience to a
young team. The future loolss bright for the Irish Softball
