The 1980 Homecoming game pitted two teams in the race for the title Afterward there would be only one The Irish proved who was the one, with o 20 8 trouncing of the second rated Limestone Psoclsets The inspired Irish defense played brilliantly Limestone, the leading Conference team in passing yardage was held to a mere 68 yards The defense continually made the big plays including a forced fumble by Joe Girard: which was recovered by Dave O Connell This switched the momentum to the Irish side Now it was trme for the offense to talse over. With Limestone geared for the pass Brad Blalsey found another way to beat them the run. Blalsey gained 109 yards rushing scoring 8 touchdowns. The Irish as a team rolled up 248 yards rushing.
