CLASS PROPHECY
Before entering the Coliseum to attend the Vvlomen s Lreposition yi e stood
in front of the bill boards eagerly scanning the program for a familiar name
We had been told that the Visitation alumnae would be well represented and
our curiosity was aroused At last we were rewarded by seeing Lucille Kahman s
name in about the middle of the program Further down was the mystifying
statement Visitation College s contribution to vxomen s advancement From
this and a following explanation vue understood that yarious girls from the
class of 1926 who had made themsels es famous would speak
fl he doors opened and with the Jostling crowd we forced our vyay into
the building and sought our places The Exhibition opened with an address
and proceeded uneventfully until Lucille Kahman was announced Eyery body
became interested as Lucille spoke of the wonderful work of training singers
for the Metropolitan Opera which position she very capably filled
lhen came the time for the appearance of the Visitation College Class of
day, then Maybelle Charboneaux the new concert violinist of our Symphony
Orchestra Jean Alice Ruff one of the editorial staff on the New York Tribune
Lucille Perry the most noted social worker of the state and Rose Bernier the
ehief designer of Vogue 'Ihere were Katherine loftus vsho was conducting
in art shop specialumg in china painting and Mary Vylhite novy one of the
instructors in ayiation for beginners Mary Rosenbaum spoke on the trials and
Joys of starring in Shakespearean plays Patricia Streett gaye 1 short talk on
trayeling is she is an accomplished trayeler herself
After this came the Coronation of the queen of the exhibition and who
should it be but our queen Bernice Simpson She vyill doubtless go through
life as such for she ve ill always be a queen in the hearts of all Visitation Girls

CLASS HISTORY
NORA MCELROY 26
We started way back 1n 1922 and we bel1eved that there was strength
1n numbers lt was cur only defense 3g3lHSI the sp1r1ted r1valry of the Seconds
who awed the school w1th the1r PICCOCIOUS sk1ll 1n basketball We adm1t now
th somewhat 1eluctantly that our blase a1r about h1gh school was ent1rely
fe1gned There has always been a great cur1os1ty as to the 1dent1ty of the g1rl
who when asked by a k1ndly nun 1f she were golng to take the class1cal course
sweetly smlled and sald No Slster l m just gomg home to lunch We con
gratulate her on the way she has kept her 1ncogn1to but that s all
In those good old days Dot Corley wore her halr short and her dresses
long now ltS VICE versa l-lanka Kelleher started w1th flowmg locks and a
look of gu1leless mnocence upon her countenance Ah where IS the Hanka of
yester year' V1rg1n1a McDonald won much popular1ty thru her athletlc
Bblllty Al1ce Cafferata was elected Class Presldent and under her v1g1lant eye
vte were perm1tted to the long for ranks
SECONDS A book la very small one Wlfh fine prlnt the finest
ever made not requ1red on the book l1st but absolutely needed to pass Caesar!
made IIS debut th1s year And d1d If get a rush? lt was at th1s t1me that Ruth
and Marg1e started the1r corporat1on It lS st1ll as strong as ever We all
thought that Mary Davenport would bob her ha1r but she fooled us And now
wh1le we are trylng to make ends meet she has rolls and rolls Eddle Daly
started her br1ll1ant basketball career and IS st1ll golng strong A1leen Goedde
cut bangs that year They clung to her unt1l just recently when her classmates
persuaded her to glVE them up
Then came a great reg1strat1on day and we were THIRDS Some new
g1rls yomed us Bonnle B1llman and Elna DeL1sle who qu1ckly won the
hearts of the g1rls Also came Grace and V1ta VIXIHHO who had attended
school some years before and could not refram from com1ng back We were
no longer maltreated by the upper classmen for we were the1r only source of
forbldden food 'lhe fr1endsh1p that sprang up between the classes was
heartlly approyed by the faculty they d1d not know there was a reason
lhls was sure enough get together year Eugema Ol-lalloran and Nora
McElroy met For nearly three years they had been gomg to school together
but due to the1r rare attendance the acquamtanee had been a tr1fle delayed
They are mak1ng up for lost t1me though
We began th1s our fourth year full of expectancy Hllllgled vuth a l1ttle
fear and a lot of enthus1asm All the schemes that we had cooked up were
stamped out under the cruel foot of the demerlt system lust lately we have
dlscovered Peg Wood s secret devotlon to a certa1n member of the faculty
Grace Madden keeps us amused by bang1ng on that v1ooden box 1n the play
room called p1ano lt seems to have been a v1ct1m of that prevalent d1sease
pyorrhea for IIS 1vor1es are loose and tuneless Ehzabeth Hester awes the class
bv gettlng out three UIULS 1n one week But Betty has a way about her
Mary Belle McCoole who had been more or less ret1cent all dur1ng these
years came forth and proved her actual ab1l1ty 1n our play Dottle Mudd has
confirmed the old adage that good goods comes 1n small packages We ll surely
IUISS cheer1ng Dottle up when she s homes1ck I hate to WYIIC Mary LIZ s name
as one of those from whom we are part1ng Twelve years IS a long t1me IH one
school now don t get me wrong Mary L17 started 1n k1ndergarten We ll
probably see her struttlng back to college That's r1ght Mary L17 dont let
a h1gh school d1ploma phase you

Mary our Mother Immaculate Mother of Cwod and our Heavenly Mother
Especlally beautiful is the deep lntense d2VOIlOH to our Lady displayed
in the reverentral conduct of each and every VISIIZIIOH girl We feel her ever
lasting tenderness and are sure of her unfallmg assistance thus we f1nd our
truest comfort in pouring forth our hearts to her On account of her generous
mother s love we feel near and dear to her Therefore to our Blessed Mother
our heavenly Queen do we pay homage and do we pledge ourselves to cherlsh
her eternally ever keeping her before us as our unexcelled Model We hear her
gentle voice callmg Come to me and we go to her w1th confidence An
especially sweet evldence of the honor and respect we recognize as due to her
IS the coronatlon during the month of May when Wlth beautiful flowers and
to the soft music of the organ accompanied by the melody of fresh young
volces we crown her as the fairest ueen of May Thrllled by the music and
the fragrance and beauty of the flowers above all by the Presence of the King
of Kings Who smiles upon our lovmg tribute to Hls Mother our hearts are
filled with joy as if transported to celestlal heights and we breathe the fervent

ALICE CAFFERATA
The MISSIOH BCIIVIIY here at V1s1tat1on finds th1s its th1rd year filled with

Unfortunately organization was delayed lt was not unt1l late in October
that the annual electron was held under the supervision of our worthy director

Barth represents the seventh and eighth grades
The climax of the work for this year was reached just a little before

departments The glrls labored enthusiastically and although amidst the whirl
wmd of Christmas preparation the encouraglng sum of four hundred and fifty
dollars fS45Oj was reallzed
But this IS not all The efficacy of prayer IS remembered by each and
every member and there IS carrled on throughout the year a l1vely competitlon
between the classes for the hlghest number of spmtual works offered for the
MISSIONS together wlth the class amb1t1on of being first financially Donations
were recelved by means of mite boxes where many a sparc penny found 1ts way
The Inter Unit a monthly edited and published by the Catholic Students

lour years ago recogmzlng the need of a debating club the Hxgh School

who won h1gh honors for themselves and thelr school by the splendld work
ln the Globe Democrat Contest on the COHSYIIUIIOH
The Splflt of Poor Dlck domlnates the school not only on the one evenlng

One brlght September afternoon last year a few glrls who played on
drfferent lnstruments got together and determlned to learn some pleces They
worked hard and nnally were allowed to play at one of the school recxtals nn
the Semor playroom under the name of V1s1tat1on Perservers Thelr work
pleased the S1sters so much that Mother Aquln asked Mrs Lulu Kunkel Burg
to try to start our orchestra When the gxrls heard thls they were delighted
and entered nnto the work wnth a l1vely enthuslasm Unfortunately Mrs Burg
became lll her good work however was contmued by Mlss Agnes Grey who
by her txreless efforts has greatly mcreased the number and effxcxency of the
orchestra
Our orchestra plays at entertaxnments partxes and has even very lately
played at a basketball game But lve almost forgotten the most lmportant
branch that IS the V12 Syncopaters known for thexr red hot Jazz
The gurls work hard but they are greatly rewarded for from the outslde
vxe hear contlnually a chorus of pralses How well the1r orchestra plays
It has become wonderfully efflclent 1n a very short tlme They have a rlght
to be proud of their ach1evement
And truly we are proud of our orchestra and we wlsh If every success ln
