OUR SUPREME PONTI1-'F HIS HOLINESS, PoPE JOHN XXIII Ql.KING or-' GLORY, may Your Kingdom come! Rule from Your throne of gloryu fHeb 41163 in the hearts of children so that they may keep immaculate the shining purity of their baptismal innocence. Rule in the hearts of youth so that they may grow in wholesomeness and purity and in docility to the voice of those who represent You in the family, in school, and in the Church. Rule in the heart of the home so that parents and children may live united in the observance of Your holy law. Rule in our country so that in the harmonious ordering of the social classes all its citizens may regard themselves as children of the same heavenly Father, called to work together for the common temporal good and happy to belong to that one Mystical Body, of which Your Sacrament is both the symbol and the everlasting source. Rule finally, 0 King of Kings and Lord of Lords fDeut 10:17l over all the nations of the earth and enlighten the rulers of each nation that, inspired by Your example, they may nourish thoughts of peace and not affliction Cjer 29:11 J. fPmyer Composed by Our Holy Father?

'V0lzmtas Dei-Pax Nostra THE WILL OF GOD-OUR PEACE THESE WORDS, from the biography of our Holy Father, Pope Iohn XXIII, we have chosen as our motto. Inspiring and practical, The Will of God, Our Peacen, must be for us a lifetime guide and prayer, for it embodies the fundamental principle of Christian living. It is the ever recurring motif that runs through the sonata of a well-directed life. It has been the pre- dominant theme in our varied and profitable years at Brentwood. As Cardinal Roncalli and Patriarch of Venice, our present Pope often repeated this aspiration. With the will of God ever in mind, he met and efficiently handled difficult affairs of state as well as baffling political problems. His strict adherence to God's will probably won for him the title, Optimistic Patriarchv, which his beloved Venetians fondly called him. So we should permit the will of Cod to dominate our lives, Thy Will be donev must be not only our daily prayer, but also a motive power guiding thoughts and actions. Doing God,s will means character building- cultivation of God-given gifts. It implies developing the two-fold virtue of charity and other necessary virtues, in short, doing the will of God is the road to sanctification. Following our God-Creator, Redeemer, Sanctifier-will make our lives truly successful and peaceful. He knows what is best for us.-His peace must be the answer to the message each one of us sends to Him: TRUSTING MY ALL TO YOUR TENDER CARE, AND KNOWINC THAT YOU LOVE ME, I,LL DO YOUR VVILL, WITH A HEART SINCERE, I,LL BE WHAT YOU WANT ME TO BE!
