A Typical Day in the Lje of a ophomore Each day opens with the traditional salute to the Flag, the singing of the national an- them and our Alma Mater, and morning prayers, as with reverent solemnity, Sopho- mores express their loyalty to their school, umm nntm flllflll .1 Q- .mb AI, their country, and their God. Since life at SHM is a preparation for ideal Cath- olic living, Sophomores are taught to share with the less fortunate the good things God has given them- food for the aged poor, reading materials and rosaries for shut-ins, pads for cancer patients. But the project nearest their hearts is the support of the missions, for which they eagerly fashion exquisite vestments. Sometimes Sophomores' luck of wisdom brings them into conflict with Student Councillors. Result -an orange slip and a pressing invitation to appear before the Court on the following Monday after- noon. Naturally, tap dancing class is a pleasure! Here Sophs display such rapt attention, co-ordination and rhythm that their progress is amazing, as their de- lightful number at the annual Sing proved. After classes all unite for the daily Rosary. At its close there is an accelerated movement to be off- but the necessity of leaving a tidy room poses a prob- lem. As classmates look on in amused relief, a few girls industriously set to work with dusters, erasers and waste paper baskets. Many hands make light and effective work! There are special days in the life of a Sophomore- days which stand out vividly among her treasured memories. Among them surely are the days of class basket and volley ball games, the Sophomore Mission Dance, the annual Sing, the first Regents in high school, the annual field day when hilarious fun LIC- n 4 companies athletic events, and the clay on which each Sophomore receives her school hat. For at Park Ter- race each year has its distinctive hat, and Sophomores are especially proud of theirs-a navy with a brim of Columbia blue. 51 , :tw-qw-, V -w.,.k-2'
