Once each month altruistic mothers of SI-lMers, past and present, meet and pool their talents to produce vast quantities of layettes, cancer pads, afghans, and outfits for first Holy Com- munion. Through their devoted service they alleviate the hard- ships of less fortunate people and bring joy to the heart of many a weary missionary priest and sister, struggling to spread God's kingdom in fields afar. A devoted group, under the capable direction of Mrs. Fred- erick Looby, meets weekly to make vestments, and the quantity and quality of their work are awe-inspiring, Among these self- less, mission-minded workers are: fupper picturel Mrs. Mc- Carthy, Mrs, De Vaughan, and Miss O'Brieng and fin the lower picturel Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Farrell. Still others are Mrs. Holmes, Mrs. Finnegan, Mrs. Mallory and Mrs. Wheeler who were not present when the pictures were taken.

Ekins and j, Charbonneau, li. Spreen and F. Prelli Miller. To hnance these projects Mission Dances are spon- sored, and little sacrifices are made daily to swell the mission coffers. Chapels are completely furnished each year, not only with vestments and sacred vessels but also with altars. Vestments are also sent with loving prayers to far-flung corners of the earth, and medicines and clothing are transported across the seas to mis- sionary priests and nuns to distribute among their needy and their sick. Sacrifices are made easy by the knowledge that in some remote village in wartorn Korea or famished India-or even in the home missions-tiny First Com- municants are proudly displaying their first new dress and shoes, Our efforts are further stimulated and rewarded by grateful letters from hcroic souls who have dedicated their lives to the arduous-and often thankless-toil of the missions. Every spring at hlarymount College we display our work along with members of the Mother Butler Guilds. The lfxhibit is awe-inspiring and incredible, and we Park Terriers feel proud to do our share in this tremendous work of all the schools under the di- rection of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. That they all may be one is the goal of our daily prayers and sacrifices. The Annual Card Part One of the most popular and financially suc- cessful social functions of S.H.M. is the annual card party, held each fall. Its success is due to the tireless eHorts of enthusiastic mothers who for weeks devote their energies to soliciting prizes, ordering refreshments and anticipating every last detail.
