VARSITIES Lauralton's athletic endeavors reach their peak in the field hockey and basketball varsities. ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION The Athletic Association, under the direction of Miss Constantini, endeavors to form well-rounded personalities by teaching its members how to compete in games with a true Christian spirit. Fall brings our newest outdoor sport, speedball, followed by basket- ball and the aches and pains of calisthenics during the winter. Spring ushers in softball, badminton, and tennis. Through these activities, we learn that co-operation, sportsman- ship, and school spirit invariably lead to victory. The Faculty-Student game and Blue- White games are just a few of the events on the AA calendar enjoyedathis year. FIELD DAY Excitement and enthusiasm run high at Lauralton when the end of the year brings our long-awaited Field Dayfl The dayis fun begins with an AA Assembly, where those girls who have earned suficicient points are awarded varsity and tournament pins, emblems, letters, bars or stars. Anyone could tell at a glance that Field Day is no ordinary day of school, for girls in their gym suits are everywhere on the campus - eating their lunch of hot dogs, soda, and ice cream, watching the traditional Bltre-White softball game, or participating them- selves in games of their choice. The popularity of the seniors is evident, as yearbooks are passed from hand to hand to be signed. The grand finale of Lauraltonis fun day, the Virginia Reel, is held on the softball field with everyone participating. Thus, Field Day climaxes the AA program. What's next? This is killing me! Promenade your partner home! Next stop, jimmy Dean show! 76
