MUSIC DEPARTMENT Here at Lauralton, extensive opportunities to enjoy the beauties of music are made available through Choral Clubs, Lauralettes, Theory classes, Liturgical music, and private piano and voice instructions. The Choral Club is open to all students. Through practice meetings, the members grow in singing skill and music appreciation. During the year the Club sponsors a Christ- mas program, a trip to the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and a spring concert. The Lauralettes are a group of girls from the Senior Choral Club who have a talent and desire for harmonizing in a small group. The Theory Course, offered only to freshmen, is a general study of all forms of music, which aims to bring out the aesthetic value so that each girl may find the kind she enjoys most. Liturgical Music, the study and singing of church music, is under the direc- tion of Sister Agnes Marie. Private instruction is available to girls desiring a more intense course in either voice or piano. THE LAURALTON Deadlines and worries are all behind us as proudly we offer you the finished product, The LAURALTON '58, a Captions, write-ups and re-writes were the problem children the Literary Staff had to cope with before the copy became sufficiently manageable for publication. The Busi- ness Staff Csee page 1025, as they tuck away the extra ad blanks and straighten out the accounts, remember the many persuasive tactics they had to employ to collect ads and sell yearbooks. Cover design, layouts, dividers and color - all are now realities to the Art Staff. The Typing Staff, who clicked off the copy which finally made the grade, still groan when they recall the often undecipherable penmanship of the Literary Staff. We treasure the experience of getting the LAURALTON ready. We hope the com- pleted book will bring you as much fun as the book-in-preparation brought us. If in later years The LAURALTON recaptures for you a pleasant memory, if it recalls a dear friend, or renews a bright hope, then we do not regret the headaches, the panicky moments, the pressure of time under which we labored until we finally emerged to meet the last deadline.
