Larry Charles Schrieb . . . When Larry came to Lincoln from Logansport High School he added an extra bit of spirit to many Lin- coln activities. Larry has parti- cipated in cross-country, swimming and fall track since coming to Lin- coln. He had the honor of having one of his poems accepted by the National High School Poetry Associ- ation. His 12A service included the Informal Committee. Ambition: To go to Iowa State Teachers College. James William Schrock . . . An outstanding athlete and a warm personality are traits of Jim. He has been out for basketball, base- ball, and football, while receiving two letters in baseball and football, and one in basketball. Jim has been on Student Council, served as hall monitor, and was on the Prom Com- mittee. He is also on the High School Howling League. Ambition: Study architecture at Northwest Missouri State College. Dianna Kay Schultz . . . Dianna has maintained a two aver- age through high school. She is on Art Staff, Student Council and a member of Dorian Art Club. Dian- na ' s outside activities include Rain- bow, Church Choir and Modeling School. During her 12A semester, she served on the Commencement Committee. Ambition: To attend business school. James Selby . . . Jim ' s fairness and his top person- ality helped him become elected Chief Justice of the Student Council. Jim has also been a top diver for Lincoln. He placed third in the city meet and fourth in the district meet. He has received two letters for swimming and two for baseball. He also was out for football in his sophomore year. Jim has been on the honor roll several times through- out senior high. Ambition: Major in engineering at Iowa State University in Ames. Francis Lynn Shade . . . A head for business has helped Francis become the president of Lin- coln ' s D.E.C.A. He also ran for president of the state D.E.C.A. Francis has been in speech, radio, and in Dorian Art Club. During his senior year he was on the Abe ' s bowling team, Commencement Com- mittee, and helped make the 1960 Homecoming Emblem. Ambition: To go to Grandview Jr. College and major in business ad- ministration. Marilyn Lou Sharp . . . Marilyn is a quiet and intelligent girl. She served as highlights editor for the Senior Rail, and was on the Stenographic Committee. Marilyn went out for tennis in her junior year. She has been a member of Girls Glee Club and Secretarial Staff. Marilyn was also in Leaders Club and Pep Club. Ambition: Go to A. LP. and become a legal secretary. Thomas R. Sherk . . . A good stroke and good luck made Tom one of Lincoln ' s best golfers. He has also been out for sophomore football, and swimming, receiving one letter for swimming and three for golf. Tom is on the High School Howling League. In 12A he served on the Commencement Com- mittee. Ambition: Attend Creighton in Omaha and possibly major in den- tistry. Dixie Dorene Shoemaker . . . In all that she has done, Dixie has represented Lincoln with intelli- gence and a fine personality. Dixie served as a junior and senior cheer- leader and received one letter. She has been on the honor roll and chairman of the foreign exchange committee in Student Council. She has been a member of Senior Choir, Junior Choir, and Girls ' Glee Club. Dixie was chosen to be the foreign exchange student to Denmark dur- ing the summer of I960. She was co-editor of sketches of the Senior Railsplitter. Ambition : To major in elementary education at Northwest Missouri Teachers. Mary Margaret Short . . . Peppy and friendly best describe Mary. She was a member of Distri- butive Education and was chosen as a delegate to a D.E.C.A. conference. She was also a member of Girls Glee Club and Rainbow and served on the Commencement Committee during her senior year. Her hobbies include painting and swimming. Ambition: To be a success in what- ever I do in life. Edward Arthur Simmons . . . A quiet lad with a kind word for all, describes Ed. He has been in Jun- ior and Senior Hand and Dorian Art Club. Ed was also a Gym Leader. Outside of school Ed belongs to Westminister Youth Fellowship and also church choir. In 12A Ed was on the Haccalaureate Committee. Stephen Harold Randall . . . The Man with the Bi ? heat. de- scribes Steve, drummer for The Strikes. Lincoln ' s combo. Steve entered Lincoln in eleventh grade from the high school division of Luther College. At Luther he par- ticipated in Student Council, First Choir, and went out for football, basketball, and baseball. He VM al- 8o drummer for the college band. At Lincoln, Steve has been out for football, baseball, basketball, in which he received a letter, and tennis, in which he received two letters. Steve was a percussionist in the first band and ' pit band and was percussion- ist in the Des Moines All-City Hand. Ambition: To mttr Iowa State Uni- versity and become an architectural engineer. Thomas C. Rhodes . . . Tom ' s varied abilities and wide in- terests have made him an outstand- ing student. He was president of the Art Club and in the Art Homeroom. He was a winner in the Scholastic Art Award Contest, and designed the cover for the student directory and a school play program. Tom has been vice-president and chief justice of the Student Council and a mem- ber of the executive board of the All- City Student Council. Tom has been on the honor roll, chairman of the Get-Together Committee, and a mem- ber of the Informal Committee. He has been Kiwnnian of the month and a KDPS announcer. Ambition: To go to lowi State Teachers College. Henry Rivera . . . Hank, as he is known to his friends, transferred to Lincoln his sophomore year from Dowling High School, where he played two years of football. Playing guard on Lin- coln ' s team, he proved to be a rug- ged and valuable player and received a varsity football letter. He also participated in track, in the shot- put and discus throw events. One of Henry ' s top honors at Lincoln was being chosen a candidate for Homecoming King of I960. Ambition: To join the Marine-. Jeannette K. Robbins . . . Vitality and determination have made Jeannie an all around student at Lincoln. She has been on the honor roll all through junior and senior high, and is in the upper five per cent of her class. She has been in Madrigal homeroom since tenth grade and has also sung in the Senior Chorus, Girls Glee Club, Triple Trio, and Trio. She has participated in Latin Club and Girls Club, and also has been both on the Lincoln and Intra-Des Moines Student Councils. Ambition: To go to Drake and major in Pharmacy. William Dale Robinson . . . Hill has been a leader as well as an athlete while at Lincoln. He received two letters in spring track and was on the District Championship Track Team in 1959. He also participated in swimming, and has been in Stu- dent Council for three semesters and ran for Chief-Justice in the 1961 campaign. Hill was sports columnist on the Railsplitter and served on the Prom Committee in 12A. Ambition: Go to Graceland College and take Liberal Arts. Harold Dennis Root . . . Denny is a quiet lad with a warm personality. He has taken part in sophomore football, and also belong s to the Distributive Education Club of America. Ambition: Become a good salesman. Karen Marina Fox Rule . . . Combine beauty and sweetness and that ' s Karen. Karen came to us from Sao Paulo, Brazil through the American Field Service as a foreign exchange student. Karen is a member of Student Council and also All- City Student Council. She has par- ticipated in French Club, Latin Club, and Usher Committee. She is also in Senior Y-Teens and Senior Chorus. Karen was honored by be- ing chosen to march on Lincoln ' s newly formed Drill Team, and by being chosen to be a homecoming attendant. Outside of school Karen was vice-president of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church Youth Group. Ambition: Become an interpreter. Henrietta Jean Ryan . . . Henrietta came to Lincoln from Altoona High. While at Altoona, she was a member of the Drill Team, and worked on the school paper. While at Lincoln, she was a member of Leaders Club, Drill Team and served as hall monitor. Henrietta ' s outside activities include Rainbow. C.Y.F. and W.I.B.C. (Women ' s In- ternational Bowling Congress). Dur- ing her 12 A semester, she served on the Get Together Committee. Ambition : To work for some branch of law enforcement. Larry Ralph Sanford . . . Larry ' s easy manner won him the honor of being parliamentarian of the DECA Club. Larry was a mem- ber of Distributive Education for two semesters during his senior year. Ambition: To major in drafting at Drake. Victoria Maria Scaglione . . . Brightness and gaiety are traits of Vicky ' s personality. During school she has been in Drill Team, she was secretary of Group B. She also was on the Friendship Committee, Stu- dent Council and office staff. Dur- ing her senior year she helped on the Homecoming Float. Her hobbies include bowling, swimming and wa- ter skiing. During her 12A semester, she served on the Prom Committee. Ambition : Go to business school and tour Europe this summer. 25 —

Kileen Sinclair . . . Eileen has been a member of Leaders Club for two semesters, and a mem- ber of Girls Club. She has served on Student Council, and has also been a hall monitor. During her 12 A semester she served on the Treasury Committee. Even though Eileen likes almost all sports, she claims bowling is her favorite. Ambition: To become a beautician. Mary Ann Skinner . . . A definite spark of wit and a dimpled smile describe Mary Ann. She has been on the honor roll three times. Not only has she been in Student Council at Lincoln, but she has also participated on the Drill Team, be- sides being a member of Leaders Club and the Pep Club. In her 12A semester she served on the Prom Committee. Mary Ann ' s hobbies in- clude bowling and swimming. Ambition: To do something in the medical field and go to Europe this summer. Gary Wayne Smith . . . Gary helped to inaugurate the Dis- tributive Education Class by being chosen parliamentarian. He was in Hoys Glee Club and Senior Chorus. During 12A he was on the Cap and Gown Committee. Ambition: To become a store man- ager. Jeanette Merrideth Smith . . . Quiet in manner but not in service, Jeanette has been a credit to Lin- coln. She was a member of Girls Club, Y-Teens, Business Staff, and Bible Club. In 12A she served on the ;» t -Together Committee. Outside of school, Jeanette has been honored to be president of F.C.Y.F. youth group at her church. Ambition: To become a beautician and do modeling. Constance Joanne Sones . . . A pleasing smile and intriguing eyes have helped Connie in modeling school. She was a member of Girls Club, Y-Teens, Mermaids and Future Nurses Club. Connie also worked as a Hall Monitor for one semester. Though Connie likes all sports, she says that bowling is tops. During 12 A she served on the Informal Com- mittee. Ambition: Follow a stenographic career. Donald Alan Sparks . . . Don has an ear for music and a mind for sports. He participated in basketball and baseball in his sopho- more year. He has been in Junior and Senior Chorus, and also Hoys Glee Club. Ambition : Hecome a carpenter. Linda Jaye Spease . . . Linda entered Lincoln from Urban- dale High where she participated in Glee Club. She also won a 30 week art scholarship at the Art Center while at Urbandale. At Lincoln, Lin- da has been in Senior Chorus and has served on Secretarial Staff. She was honored by being chosen queen of the Four Mile Saddle Club. Ambition : Hecome a secretary. Madeline Jean Squire . . . Lincoln ' s gain was Germany ' s loss when you speak of Madeline. In 11th grade she came to Lincoln from Kaiserslautern, Germany. Since she came she has participated in the Girls Glee Club and Senior Chorus. She also was a member of Lincoln ' s Drill Team. Madeline was honored by having her poem accepted by the National High School Poetry Associa- tion. Ambition: To enter nurses ' train- Diane Claire Statler . . . Diane has been an asset to Lincoln in the service she has rendered. She has been a Hall Monitor, in Leaders Club, and Pep Club. During her 12A semester she served on the Class Day Committee. Ambition: Go into social service work. Gayle Lea Statler . . . Always ready for fun or work has been one of the reasons Gayle has been so active at Lincoln. She sang in the Girls Glee Club, and has been in Mermaids, Leaders Club and a member of the Gym Staff. Gayle has also served on the Student Council and the Red Cross Committee in both Junior and Senior High. Her other activities have been make-up editor of the Railsplitter Staff and marching in Lincoln ' s Drill Team. Gayle helped build the 1960 Home- coming Emblem, and also served on the Get-Together Committee as a pert of her Senior activities. Ambition: Go to business school. 27-
