mafhemalics, languages and hislory, you had learned +o lhink slraighl.
Second, having for many years seen success come 'ro lhe induslrious
and failure +0 The lazy, +ha'l' you had learned To work hard.
Thirdly, having engaged in various alhlelic and exfra-curricular con-

And lasrly, since rhroughouf your schooling +he imporlance of show-

Lincoln HigI1's Aglmiwigfrabrs
When voices of ofhers sing Alma Mafer and laughfer of ofhers resound in Lincoln's
halls, we will look back, wifhouf regref, on our high school days. They have nof only
been days of sfudy buf days of pleasure. Who can ever be forgefful of fhe fhree
mosf momenfous occasions in our school career? Remember class nighf, fhe fhrill of
our Senior Prom, and how, wifh hearfs beafing high and heads liffed proudly, we
marched, for fhe lasf fime as a class, af our graduafion. Many of us will relive fhose
momenfs again and again.
While we are fhinking of all Lincoln has. meanf fo us we musf nof forgef fo include
our friends. Friendships are made and friendships are severed: buf fhere is no
friendship as fine or as lasfing as fhaf one made af school. Our inferesfs may change
buf fhere always will be a common bond of fellowship befween classmafes.
We are all sfarfing ouf on devious iourneys wifh fhe expecfafions of affaining some
disfanf goal. Some of us will find fhe fask more difficulf fhan we anficipafed, buf
fhose, who by courage and deferminafion, will have persevered will ever be grafe-
ful fo Lincoln High School for an excellenf sfarf in life and will look up fo Lincoln,
fhe man, as an inspirafion.
As fhe sun sefs on our high school days we climb fo fhe pinnacle of 'rhe mounfain
of hope and sorrowfully gaze down af fhe pasf. Slowly, we look up and wifh shining
eyes awaif fhe birfh of a new day.

BOYS' ATHLETICS 0,
ln Their Third Term oT exisTence The aThleTic aggregaTions oT Abraham Lincoln High
School have compiled records ThaT compare more Than 'favorably wiTh older and
more experienced schools. Seniors in mosT cases were The leading TacTors of Their
various Teams successes.
CompeTing in Their TirsT P.S.A.L. campaign The baske+baII squad placed TourTh, head-
ding such Teams as Brooklyn Tech, Erasmus and Manual. Lou GreensTein and Hy
DeiTch, graduaTes, were Two mainsTays who proved To be oT unlimiTed value To Coach
Kroff. GreensTein was capTain and cenTer of his Team and received The neXT high-
esT poinTs for Lincoln. DeiTch, lasT year's leader, has been The spark plug of The
quinTeT in his Two years of varsiTy playing. The Team's main TeaT during The season
was iTs vicTory over Tilden, The Brooklyn champions.
The Rifle ouTTiT always among The Top noTchers, placedsecond in This Term's one
hundred TooT championship, Roberi' Brandeis, senior capTain, proved To be one of
The sTeadiesT men of his squad. A long lisT oT ineligibiliTies ruined The nimrods'
chances of capTuring TirsT honors. OTher seniors who were varsiTy rifle men were
Schillinger and Rosenberg. Rifle and lsidore Graber, a sevenTh Termer, are synony-
mous in Lincoln.
The Lincoln swimming Team gave a greaT surprise To oTher league conTesTanTs by
winning Third place in P.S.A.L. compeTiTion. The leading luminary of The naTaTors
was Al Goldberg, diver, who ouTclassed all rivals in This evenT. EighTh Termers who
aided The NepTunes by gaining many a poinT are Bob Baron, Co-diver wiTh Goldberg
and Jack Fischer breasT sTroke specialisT.
AlThough producing a mediocre record, The Blue and Gray baseball nine conTained
members oT high calibre who deserved a beTTer TaTe. Among These are Joe Coppo,
capTain, piTcher, and TirsT baseman. His piTching has been The silver lining in his
Team's many deTeaTs. ConTrary To mosT piTchers, Coppo packs a wallop Tor which
he is Teared by oTher high school moundsmen. Herman GoldsTein, lasT year's leader,
has been The ouTsTanding baTTer oT The lasT Two campaigns. Though small oT
sTaTure he has in his possession a baTTing average which raTes among The besT in
This ciTy. LesTer Barlin, regular backsTop, alThough noT a Tlashy Type of player has
loaned a sTeady hand To The piTchers.
AT The presenT wriTing, The Lincoln Fencers are siTuaTed in second place behind
Madison. This success is due mainly To CapTain Phil Wells who placed TourTh in
The preceding year's ciTy championship. He has losT buT Three maTches during The
presenT semesTer and is one of The leaders in The presenT conTesT. He has been well
assisTed by MilTon Prussin, Jacob Cohen, and Bob Sharron.
Tennis, a sporT liTTle publicized, is headed in Lincoln by Harold UnTerberg, expe-
rienced racqueT wielder. LesTer Maslow anoTher graduaTe has held down TirsT singles
posiTion Tor Two years and has won a maioriTy oT Them. Jack LiTwack has served as
manager Tor The pasT year.
Lincoln's Team will surely miss such men as These seniors who are graduaTing.
