JUNIOR YEAR We made it!!! We were true upperclassmen and we enjoyed our new status and new location on the third floor. We were just starting to adjust to our newly acquired power when Hurricane Gloria struck. We were left without power and school for a week and enjoyed the unexpected time off. We elected Karen Smolinski, Rick Clifford, Dana Brown, and Nora LoGiudice to guide us through this very special year. Along with the support of Mrs. Powers, they worked hard selling gift items, selling sweatshirts, and collecting dues, to raise money for our Junior Prom. Once again our sports teams came through for their supportive fans. The girls’ Soccer Team won its first S.S. League title, as did the Softball team. The Hockey and Girls’ basketball teams were also successful by qualifying for the State Tournament. A great deal of planning was necessary for a successful Junior Prom. Our Prom Committee elected Kim Colotta and Melissa Ackerly to work with Mrs. Powers in organizing our prom. Finally our special night arrived. On, May 23, we nervously paraded around the gym in our formal wear. We then joined Heather and her court at the Son’s of Italy Hall as they danced to “This Could Be The Night.” The few weeks of school after the prom rushed by. We left for the summer looking forward to the much deserved title of “Seniors” we would hold in September. SENIOR YEAR We returned to A.H.S. for our last year with excitement. We were all looking forward to being respected Seniors, yet we were sad that our times together were ending. We elected Cherie Bombardier, Rick Clifford, Claire Morgan, and Bill McDevitt to help our class during this hectic year. With the ceaseless help of Miss Nisby, our officers planned several fundraisers, such as Operation Carnation, dances, Data-Match, and selling chocolate Santas, to defray our many expenses. The beginning of our final year was trying. Many hours were spent in the Guidance Department, choosing colleges and planning for our future. Our sports teams were showing great promise. The girls’ Soccer team made it all the way to the State finals, capturing the Eastern Mass title along the way. The football team showed promise for the future by defeating Hull and breaking their losing streak. As our time together ends, we will all be looking forward to Class Night, Senior Reception, and Graduation. We have shared many good times and shared experiences that we will always remember. We’ve made many friends, had many laughs, and cried many tears, but we will always remember The Year, 87.

FRESHMAN YEAR As we entered Abington High School in the fall of 1983, most of us were unsure of what lie ahead for us. We were entering a point in our lives which marked true adulthood. We elected Melissa Ackerly, Rich Campbell, Claire Morgan, and Teresa Keenan to guide us through our first year. By the end of the year, we became daring enough to attempt our first fundraiser- raffling off a Cabbage Patch Kid. At the rallies, we tried our best to demonstrate our spirit, but we were outdone by the upperclassmen. We took pride in the Cross-country Team as they captured the S.S. League title, and we cheered for the band as they reigned supreme in the Quincy Christmas Parade, followed by a trip to Florida. As our first year of high school ended we were relieved and excited and filled with anticipation at the prospect of being Sophomores. SOPHOMORE YEAR As the summer came to a close, we returned as Sophomores and took up residence on the second floor. We weren’t upper classmen yet, but we were closer to reaching that goal. We chose Karen Smolinski, Chris Miller, Claire Morgan, and Amy Trosky to work with Mr. Corcoran in order to raise money for our class. Like the Sophomores before us, we sold M M’s and Reeses cups to enlarge our treasury (and our waistline!!). Many of us ordered class rings and by wearing them, we truly felt a part of Abington High. We shared in the many victories of our sports and activities. Our Soccer, Hockey, Softball, and Baseball teams all qualified for the State Tournament. The band also showed potential in travelling to Toronto to compete against international bands. Yet another year went by quickly and we were looking forward to genuine upperclassmen status as Juniors.
