You’re one of the few people who has taken the time to become involved with our hopes and dreams. Therefore, we sincerely wish you the best of everything in the future. 5 ... Stephen We, the Editors of the 1980 Yearbook, hope to present you with a book reflecting the memorable experiences we have shared throughout our years at A.H.S. We would like to thank Mr. Byron, Mr. Paster, and all the teachers for their concern and support, and offer a special thank you to Mr. Stanton for his understanding and en- couragement. The theme of our Yearbook, “Where the Roads Come Together,” reflects our hope that we all shall meet again and never forget the wonderful years we have spent together. Thus, we leave with tears in our eyes and with hopes that the future of the Senior Class will be as happy as your years at A.H.S. Underclassmen don’t rate, but we got our chance, When we experienced our first A.H.S. dance. As far as we knew the dance went quite well, Due to prior activities we couldn’t tell! We elected Kris, Karen, Diane, and Doss, Under Mr. Murray’s last year as boss. We posed for the pictures for our I.D. ’s, But the cards that were made we never received. We goofed around in I.P.S. Was all of high school just like this? At the first rally we showed we had class Unlike most years, the wall didn’t look crass! It took so long to receive our class jacket, When they finally arrived we sure made a racket. The thrill of belonging, we can all remember- We’d be Sophomores upon our return in September. SOPHOMORE YEAR We made our way up to the second floor, We finally had status-of that we were sure. The upperclassmen told us it wasn’t what we thought, One way or another, they made sure we were taught. The new administration brought about big change- It marked the beginning of Lord Byron’s reign. We had no idea what he had in store, Needless to say, Mr. Byron was sure. We kept our class officers as they had been before, Kris, Karen, Diane, and Doss were elected once more. The boys cross-country team didn’t do so hot, Since they won no meets- they sure lost a lot! The time finally came to purchase our rings, But weren’t what we thought when they came in the spring! Most of us went to the “Taming of the Shrew’’ With skip days outlawed, it was the best we could do! And thanks to the Blizzard of ’78 Sophomore year ended seven days late. 10 HISTORY JUNIOR YEAR We finally made it to the top floor, We were really up there-underclassmen no more. Kris and Karen were in for year number three, Our other two officers were Bill and Kathy. The band won in Virginia- girls track, the South Shore, With both winning records and trophies galore. The girl’s basketball team shattered the streak, And their outstanding season proved it no freak. We traveled to Christo’s for the Junior Prom, It was great-even rain couldn’t make things go wrong. The “Long and Winding Road” we chose as the theme, Our court was picked with Pam as queen. After breakfast at Amy’s, it was off to the beach, With blankets and munchies and drinks within reach. We all looked forward to the summer ahead, ’Cause when we returned we’d be Seniors instead. SENIOR YEAR These A.H.S. years have flown by too fast, Graduation will soon be a thing of the past. Our Thanksgiving Day game was a special treat, As the Panthers went down to a crushing defeat. Biz was elected with Kieran, Kathy and Rich, Then the S.A.T.’s in December were a real..... toughie! All in all the year’s been good so far, A worthwhile event was the Christmas Bazaar. To raise some more money we ran Operation Carnation, Like never before, Valentine’s Day created a sensation. For the first time we’ll be conducting Class Night, With the talent we have- it should be a sight! The Reception is planned for the end of May, Followed closely by Graduation Day. It will soon come to a close, our Senior year, And each of us will continue to seek a career. With tears in our eyes we will leave one another, But we know we’ll meet again “when the roads come together. Mark D. Anderson Ears . Basketball 1,2,3,4. Track 1,2,3,4. Cross Country 2,3,4.
