!g?677?H77 ,Of Educ, This was Superintendent E. L. Fied- ler's first year as the key man in finish- ing up the details of the new high school. Mr. Fiedler came to Abilene in 1943 from Wamego, Kansas. He started in the school system as princi- pal of the junior high, advancing to the high school in 1947 to become principal until last year, when he became super- intendent. Coming to the principal's helm at AHS from Neodesha is Erle W. Volkland. Principal Volkland received his degree from Colorado University at Boulder, and also attended Southwestern University at Winfield, Kansas. In former schools he was principal of both senior and junior high and taught English, physical science, math, and biology.
