NMELODY ,IONES COMBINED 'Please tell me why l'm different, Peggy Mis- simer kept pleading as she played the title role in Melody Jones' presented by the junior class under the direction of Miss Barbara Orendorff at the city auditorium November 20. john Baumgartner and Bar- bara Tice, her father and mother, have not told Melody she is adopted, although Dana Percival, her Aunt Laura Walkins, thinks Melody should know. Barbara Pesnell CFrancie Wilksl and Mary Jane Pyke Chilaine Walkinsl, Melody's spoiled and jealous cousin, let the secret slip at a party. Other cast members were Melody's heart throb, Gary Boyd, Tommy Curran, Leon, her studious broth- er, Dale Millsg jennifer Abbey, her best friend, Deanne Phillips, Kenneth Carpenter, a plant life authority, Dwight Vogel, Miss Kathy Richards, 4-ll instructor, Carolee Engle, Marvin Giersch as humor- ous Stretch Appleby, and Charles Platz as Bruce Butler. Melody, heartbroken leaxges home, but re- tums in the third act radiating with happiness. While Melody argues with Bruce Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Jones, Aunt aura, Stretch, Leon, Miss Richards, jennifer, Kenneth Carpenter, Elaine, Gary and Francie llilks listen. Melody questions fennifer as Stretch, Miss Kathy Richards, Leon, Francie, Elaine and Cary watch. Miss Barbara Orendorff, director. Aunt Laura watches while Melody consults her mother. Elaine Walkins traps Gary, to the distress of Lean, lliss Richards and Stretch Appleby. HUMOR AND HEARTACHE
