Ike's home town's citizens elect the
community's Board of Education, whose
primary function is legislative and
judicial rather than executive. The
Board of Education holds its chief ex-
ecutive officer, Supt. Robinson, respon-
sible for efficient administration and
and supervision of the schools.
Miss Margaret Wardrop, clerk of the Board of
Education, secretary to Superintendent
Robinson and Mrs. Lynette Gilliland, assis-
tant, keep campaign moving smoothly.

Principal Fiedler
with details f
campaign
Establishing long range policies is
the most important single function
of the Board of Education. School
policies are in writing so that em-
ployees understand the wishes of
the governing body. Yet school
policies are examined and modifie
as wisdom requires it.
df.
Principal E. L. Fiedler's main campaign is
to help students realize their future goal.
As part of die preparation, he has campaign-
ed for the new school, and established co-
operation between the faculty and student
body.
Mr. Fiedler takes personal interest in each
student, his daily routine, his problems and
his achievements. He is a friendly co-ordi-
nator between faculty and students, ever
ready to keep the wheels of school CICIHOC'
racy functioning.

WE LIKE MIKE
CAb1lene Cowboy joe, 1953l
Wayne fMikeJ Swanson was introduced to the student body as
Cowboy joe of '53 in a skit entitled "The Adventures of Cow-
girl jane" who engages in a valiant search for the man of her
dreams, 01' "Where's Joe?"
Enthroned on a pint-sized rocking horse amid the re-echoing
campaign cry, "We Like Mike," the '53 joe was presented the
traditional brown ribbon bearing the gold letters, "Abilene Cow-
boy joe" and awarded a medal inscribed with his title. A sere-
nade from the Ensemble, congratulatory kisses and felicitations
from the staff, and rounds of audience applause marked the end
of the assembly ceremonies.
