Those who love snow, a sense of adventure, the great outdoors, wind and sunburned faces, and an occa- sional broken leg, often find Ski Club to be the most exciting organization in school! Ordinarily this club is dormant during the no-snow months, but this year was an ex- ception. Ski Club showed signs of life throughout the entire year and was busy with many money- making projects and other activities to prepare for their ski- ing season. They scream, yell, shout, boogie with the band, and cheer with the cheerleaders during all sports activities. By the time the game is over, the girls have usually lost their voices. After three sports seasons, the girls earn and receive the emblem “A.” The let- ter A symbolizes the hard work and dedication put forth by the girls. They are a great source of spirit in our school! The dance floor was decorated in light pink and yellow crepe paper and was accented with the handsome couples, dancing in their formal attire. The music was provided by the band “Goodwill” from Pocatello. Terry Smith took portraits of the couples to capture the special memories of Homecoming 1981-82. The coronation ceremonies were held to announce the Queen and her attendants. Freshman Attendant, Misty Anderson, was escorted by Dwight Poulson. Jolyn Hincks was chosen as Sophomore Attendant and was escorted by Donald Dempster. The Junior Attendant, Sue Ann Ward, was escorted by Tony Blaker. Jilane Foster was announced the 1981-82 Homecoming Queen. She was escorted by Daniel Hege. The Junior Miss pageant is a scholar- ship program for high school girls. At all levels of competition, the contestants are given points for physical fitness, poise and appearance, creative and perform- ing arts, scholastic achievement, and an interview with the judges. This year, the program, was under the direction of Larry and Barbara Walters, chairmen, and Bill and Jackie Terry, assistant chairmen. The pageant was a success, as always, and brought out the uniqueness and finest qualities in each girl. Those who par- ticipated were: Angela Forrey, Shelley Peck, Carol Abercrombie, Barbara Marley, Deb- bie Fehringer, Pam Ruff, Paula Norton, Rose Marie Flawk, Jilane Foster, Julie Beasley, Jolene Ken- dall, Nancy Woods, and Marie Gonzales. . v ••4V 4 V WMff mm m m 1«• V ♦ 4 9 M m 7 iWtVt. Richard was active in football, wrestling, and scouting. Blake was active in basketball and scouting, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. Blake enjoyed skiing, hun- ting, chess, reading, and Spanish, while Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. Both were well liked by their fellow classmates. We will cherish their memory forever. THE ROAD NOT TAKEN Two roads diverged in a yellow wood. And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair. And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same. And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence; Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by. And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost As we entered the hallowed halls of A.H.S. to begin our four-year journey. we were filled with wonder, awe, and yes, a little fear, too. helped along the way by concerned teachers. but found time to let off a little steam ... MEMORIES Memories are heartbeats Sounding through the years. Echoes never fading Of our smiles and tears. Moments that are captured. Sometimes unaware, Pictured in a yearbook Or a lock of hair. Images that linger Deep with in the mind. Bit of verse we cherished Once upon a time. Through the musty hallways Of the days we knew. Ever comes the vision Beautiful and true. Memories are roses Blooming evermore. Full of fragrant sweetness Never know before. The focus is on each of us And of the friendship true. Of the precious memories And times I spent with you. Wc met each day's challenges with mixed emotion! we applied ourselves to the tasks before us. And yes, even a little girl watching. until we were confident, mature individuals; Life must have a meaning. Goals for which to strive ... Memories are lights that burn To keep the heart alive. Good Luck! With Love, Paula, Laura, Betsy, LaRee. Jilane, Angela, Bob, Ronald, and Mr. Johnson. ready to leave; ready for widening horizons. 104
